Rsat Task 1
My Personal Style

After reading through the different types of leader styles, I sat and analyzed how I deal with managing issues. I concluded that I am a Problem Solver type of leader. This individual uses a systematic approach to combating issues that arise. When a situation rises that needs attention, I figure out exactly what the problem is; lay out scenarios to resolve the problem and working toward a goal that eliminates the problem. I then devise a plan or map for the solution to the problem. I also take input from all that would be affected by the problem and even those affected by the outcome, and weigh that input when deciding a plan to resolve the problem.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Every leadership style has strengths and weaknesses. Being a problem solver, I can easily understand how spending too much time discussing the problem itself, and not arriving at a solution could be a big weakness. This weakness never allows for the problem to be solved, just analyzed over and over.

On the flip side of this, a leader that listens to input from their team members is also strength to this type of leadership. This leader then has a wide range of diverse views regarding the problem and possible solutions. The leader is subjecting itself to points that they or other members may not be able to see regarding the problem. This will allow for a more in depth view of the problem and possible ways to solve it that could be more beneficial for the team as a whole.

A strength to the problem solving leadership style is that you surround yourself with capable experts on the subject matter. You are not spending time attempting to solve the problem yourself. The overall decision may be yours, but having a team of experts allows you

to view different angles and solutions to efficiently get to the root of the problem and put the solution into place.

A weakness of surrounding yourself with experts on the subject matter is

Some characteristics that define my leadership style are prepared, trustworthy, understanding, and most important adaptable. I feel that the best example of a leader we have had in the United States is George Washington. I have tried to model my leadership style after George by finding the delicate balance between being a participant in events and also taking charge when necessary. I think that flawed leadership is when one person exhibits total control over a group of people or situation. A perfect example of me exhibiting the leadership qualities mentioned before happened this summer while on a mission trip in Jamaica. Our mission team’s project for the day was to either work on planting vegetables or cultivate parched, dry ground. I chose…

There are many different ways of solving problems or coming to conclusions. There are also many ways to do research and learn lessons from the research that one finds. Some ways are better than others as far as the depth of thinking that is involved, but if the same result is met with many different ways, it doesn 't matter which one is used. One particular method or model that is used throughout the company that I work for is called the seven-step problem solving method. It is the model that has been widely used and known to have good quality outcomes at Intel Corporation. I suppose the reason that it used by virtually all of the employees that work there is because it covers just about every aspect of solving a particular problem or issue. It has also been used before a problem has occurred to prevent further problems. "The trick is to figure out what information you are lacking and then gather and analyze that information." (www.unf.edu) The seven-step problem solving method is a solid approach to critical thinking and solution to issues and problems.…

When the team dynamics are right and people are motivated, there will be a boost of productivity and it will create an opportunity to utilize the skills and hidden talents that every team member has. When the skill of leadership is not applied correctly (or not at all) it can lead to lack of motivation and trust within the group. It can drive a team apart which will result in a poorly designed product, or even worse, no product at all.…
