Similarities between Fifty Shades of Grey and Twilight
In 2008 Twilight hit bookshelves and instantly became a hit. It told the love story between a regular human girl named Bella Swan and a vampire named Edward Cullen. Teenagers around the world soon became obsessed with the book and it spread like wildfire. The book eventually was turned into a movie and went on to gross millions of dollars. Two other books followed and they too also were turned into movies that grossed millions of dollars. Three years later an erotic book called Fifty Shades of Grey hit bookshelves. Even though the book was intended for a much older audience it became popular among teenagers. It told love story between a girl named Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey but with an emphasis on their sexual relationship. The book is soon going to be turned into a movie which will gross millions of dollar just as Twilight did. However, Fifty Shades of Grey has been criticized for having parts that are too similar to that of Twilight. In both books the female protagonist is described as being pale with brown hair with the only difference being in the eye color. They are both clumsy, shy, and won’t really stand out in a crowd. However, these two average girls manage to steal the hearts of two ridiculously handsome guys. Even the family backgrounds of both girls are the same. Both girls have divorced parents with them choosing to live with their fathers. Just like their female counterparts the male protagonist seem to be just as alike. Both mean have a lot of money which seems to intimidate their girls. They each also hide a deep dark secret about themselves that they don’t want anyone to know. Lastly, both
