Tuckman's model has been proven to help wonders. At my day job I am the leader of a team. I have found it very important to understand the Tuckman model because it is almost like a handbook. If i am unsure of the stage we are in and where we need to be when working on a goal I can just go back and check the model to see. If a leader is able to understand how to make progress to the next stage or even just become aware of who and what everyone in the group is capable it can start delegating what needs to be done. Leaders should use this to make sure they are achieving the milestones in each step of the Tuckerman model. Leaders have a job of making sure everyone is committed and working together. The Tuckman model Power Point has a quote that stuck out to me, “The essence of a team is common commitment.…

All the eight stages in this model are crucial and should, therefore, be adhered to the later. The Northwell Inc. shows a closer adherence to this model although they fail to follow all the steps outlined carefully. Although the company initiates some radical changes regarding the implementation of change, it misses on some points. A proper team should be put in place to lead the change. Kotter talks of a powerful team. The question of what constitutes a powerful team pops in. Northwell Company chose Claudia and Nathan to form the coalition to lead change. Therefore, we are left wondering, does a team of two people constitute a powerful team? The answer is obvious. No. for such a huge undertaking, Northwell should have directed Nathan and Claudia to come up with a team comprising different key stakeholders. The coalition, which now is powerful, would have been able to communicate with all the stakeholders whether internal or external. Such a move would have helped in ensuring that all the stakeholders are informed of vision of the company and the strategies it has put in place to ensure the vision is achieved within the stipulated time…
The management of today prefers a sort of flexibility along the lines of drifting. They want a networklike arrangement light on its feet (Sennett 23). This form in which businesses are taking make them readily decomposable and redefinable than the fixed hierarchies of old. In being able to be redefined a company is able to roll with the punches and make…
