One of the more prominent themes that I noticed these books had in common was friendship. Friendship can change your life in more ways than you can imagine. A friend is someone you can depend on and help you through the positive and negative you may encounter. For most of Sarah’s life she got all of her love from Eric because no one else wanted to be her friend or even glimpse at her. Eric is Sarah’s escape from her father. Sarah would have remained in the mental hospital for her entire life if she had the option without a friend. She wouldn’t have had someone to live for without Eric there for her. Eric was the only one that saw past her scars and Sarah was the only one, besides his mother, that saw past his fatness. Before Eric lost weight people bullied him for being fat. Sarah stood up for him and didn’t care if he…

One point of similarities and differences would be the characters and the relationships that the characters have in both stories, Night and Life is Beautiful. For example, there is a father-son relationship in each of the stories. In Night, the father, Shlomo, and the son, Elie, have a very special bond of love and appreciation toward one another, just like Joshua and Guido do to each other in Life is Beautiful. However, the difference between the two would be that at around the end of the book of Night, Elie's feelings toward his father would change at one period in the story. The reader notices the change when he says “free at last!” (Wiesel 112), yet this change did not happen to Joshua and Guido in Life is Beautiful. By Elie’s change of feeling toward his beloved father, this could change how the reader feels about him whether it is a positive…

The most important thing that makes the stories different is the setting and the plot. Both stories may have a similar theme but the setting and plot it what separates them. For example, one story takes place in a cage and the other story takes place in a school. The climax in each story is different from each other. For example, in the story “from Boy’s Life” the student was so desperate to leave the class when the teacher told the class to leave in a single line, which makes the reader wonder what happens…

In the column, “ The Boys Fall into the Gender Gap” (2016), Suzanne Fields, a nationally syndicated columnists, argues that boys are falling behind in the gender gap and are reading less books, skipping pages while reading, and lack an interest in reading that is resulting in a slow decrease of male college graduates. Fields illuminates the cause by using studies form the Center for Education Policy, National Assessment of Education Progress, and several schools to exhibit the problem among boys. Fields exemplifies the growing reading problem among young boys in order to raise awareness to the situation — boys are falling behind. Fields’ references the audience as “teachers, classroom assistants, and librarians”, and uses a wary tone full of caution in order to express how crucial the situation is.…
