Similar to the deliberative model, Chiropractic approaches expect the healthcare provider to cooperate with the patient and be an effective communicator and first and foremost he/she should be an educator who is able to teach the patients what is best for them. In addition, the patient is not seen as a passive recipient, but plays an active role in the healing process. Such model embodies the ideal relationship between a chiropractor and a patient in fact decisions and perceptions of the patient are taken in consideration and never overlooked. Also the model fosters a two-way communication between the patient and the healthcare provider when discussing health-related values and interventions. From this comes a patient centered care. [8,9]
Conclusion
Among the four patient-practitioner relationship models, it seems that the deliberative model provides the most complete view of patient care. Even though the interpretive and informative models offer several beneficial aspects, there are different areas in which they lack relevant elements of an appropriate model of patient care such as a clear understanding of values, a standard of responsibility, and promotion of positive health. Through proper education of patient and healthcare provider, the deliberative model can most greatly benefit both parties in the patient-practitioner
