To establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment.
As a preschool teacher it is my goal to keep all the children in my class safe while in my care. Our classroom is set up in a way that every child can easily maneuver around the entire classroom. We talk about using walking feet and gentle hands inside and outside of our classroom on a weekly basis, we also have a fully stocked first aid kit in our classroom, available and accessible for any teacher that may be in the room. The children and I go over washing our hands and coughing and sneezing into the inside bend of our arms to help eliminate the spread of germs. I have provided a yuck bucket for my children just incase a something accidentally get
put into there mouth everything that is in the yuck bucket gets cleaned once a week then put back into out class room for us to play with. Rest is an important part of our day, it allows the mind and body recuperate after vigorous indoor/outdoor play. I have their mats and blankets in individual bags in the closet and the mats are cleaned and sanitized everyday while blankets and pillowcases are washed daily. I try and give the children healthy snacks such fruit or vegetables with dip. I provide a day full of fun and learning. Our classroom name is the “Funky Monkeys” our classroom is divided up into centers such as literacy, math, science, reading, dramatic play, blocks, music and art that the children can use freely everyday. Everything is at there level, which means they have easy access, to all the materials. We also have sand and water tables that can be pulled out upon the children’s request. Our days are always panned with activities that are active and quite, free play and structured, individual and group, indoor and outdoor.
