Chapter 1 – Introduction

1. – Introduction and its Background

Automation has had a notable impact in a wide range of industries beyond manufacturing (where it began). Once-ubiquitous telephone operators have been replaced largely by automated telephone switchboards and answering machines. Medical processes such as primary screening in electrocardiography or radiography and laboratory analysis of human genes, sera, cells, and tissues are carried out at much greater speed and accuracy by automated systems. Applying automation to Grading systems wherein it will also make a task easy and accurate.

2. – Background of the Problem

Since San Sebastian College Recoletos began over 4 years ago, many things in this school have gone from manual to automate. And because a typical problem in a starting school are Grading systems, I noticed that this system does not exist in this school. We all know that making an Automated Grading System means making the task for professors in computing and calculating grades will become easy and not only that the professors will have an advantage but the students will also get a gain, because it will also improve accuracy of calculations thus making the what we call “Hula of Grades” will become non – existent in the future of San Sebastian Recoletos.

3. – Statement of the Problem

San Sebastian College Recoletos – Canlubang lacks a centralized grading system. It doesn’t have a standalone program that will accept input, compute grades and print class cards all in a same program.

4. – Objectives of the Study

To have a fully implemented program that will help to ease jobs of professors and that student can rely on having an accurate grade.

All those years, it cannot be denied that the rapid change of computer technology makes one’s life a better place to live in. A Customizable Online Grading System can eliminate the word “manual”. Another feature is the automatic importing of grades from the instructor’s class records and printing it in different forms, unlike the current system wherein they need to write everything and present everything in person. This proposed system can give us more data accuracy and speed up time not only for the students but also for the instructors. Another capability of the proposed system is “Customizable”. The current system being used in Southville International School and Colleges is a computerized grading system. In the existing system, professors can encode the grades of their students using a computer throughout the various terms in the semester (Namely: Preliminaries, Midterms, and Finals). At the end of the semester, the system then accordingly calculates the final grade of the student of that subject and compiles the grades of all the subjects the student is taking up that semester.…
