Concept paper
CONCEPT PAPER A Concept Paper is about the in-depth analysis regarding an intangible thought, theory, or idea. The goal of writing a concept paper is to explain a particular idea to the audience or readers objectively. Whenever an idea has to be explained, a concept paper is needed. If the audience has no knowledge about the topic, your job should inform them. If your audience has some knowledge, your job is to add new things or new idea about the topic. A concept paper is prepared as a prelude to a full paper. The full paper may be a thesis, a program, a project, or anything that will require a longer time to prepare. It is expected that the concept paper should consist only of 1 or 2 pages. Or if you want to clear up some matters, it can go up to 5 pages. The concept paper may also be used as an instructional tool that may have developed as a result of extensive research, committee input and/or as a result of the outcome of a current project.

Steps in writing Concept Paper:
1. Pick your concept – Choose a subject that you are familiar or interested in searching on.
2. Research your concept – Spend no less time to research about your topic. You should gather informative and objective information. Books, journals, professional websites and interviews are good ways in researching your topic.
3. Refine the topic – When you pinpoint your concept, it helps for limiting the possibilities of your research, and otherwise the research might feel overwhelming or infinite.
4. Outline your paper – It is composed of introduction, a body part and a conclusion. The introduction can be a brief and accepted definition of your concept and a description of what you are going to say in the paper. The body part includes cause and effect, classification, and comparison & contrast and examples for helping your audience understand your chosen concept. The conclusion includes the summary of your paper, restatement of your thesis and a wrapping up sentence at the end.
5. Write

Often, it helps to narrow your topic (or make it more specific and focused) before you start doing research. Complete the following exercise to turn your topic into a research question by using the same information gathering technique that journalists use.
