Class Website: http://new.schoolnotes.com/sarzu Welcome to Conceptual Geometry! This course will use the textbook Geometry: Concepts and
Applications. Conceptual Geometry builds upon the concepts presented in Algebra 1. New content is introduced as an extension of material previously mastered in the above­mentioned course. A primary goal of Conceptual Geometry is the use of mathematical ideas in solving problems ranging from everyday applications to the real world and sciences. Math Department Vision Statement
The vision of our department is to develop each student’s understanding of mathematics through a challenging and rigorous standards­based curriculum. Our goal is to enable students to compete in today’s global economic market and to achieve their own goals for success by being able to think critically. Required
Wire­bound Notebook (70 sheets minimum),
Materials
#2 Sharpened Pencils, Eraser, Ruler, (scientific calculator TI­36). Classroom Responsibilities:
● Students must be in their seats and be ready to work before the bell rings.
● Students must respect each other’s property, safety and right to learn.
● Students must come to class with required materials.
● Students must listen attentively and participate fully in class activities and discussions. ● Students must complete all assigned class work and homework on time.
● Students must take notes daily and keep a daily assignment log. Consequences:
The consequences for not adhering to the classroom and school policies range in severity and depend on frequency of their occurrence. They include:
● Verbal Warning (3 max)
● Class Detention (lunch/after school)
● Phone call home
● Referral to the Office
● Parent­Teacher Conference Missing more than 9 days of class in a semester may result in an automatic 10% grade reduction. Grade Scale: A: 100­90% B: 89­80%
C: 79­70% D: 69­60% F: 59­0% Final Grade: Your final grade will be based upon the following:

Assignments and Make­Up Policy:
Assignments will be assigned on a daily basis and will be an extension of the material covered in class. Assignments are due the following school day. It is a student’s responsibility to inquire about missed exams/assignments. Students will be given one day for each day of an excused absence to turn in their work. Please refer to your class “Assignment Log” @ http://new.schoolnotes.com/sarzu for missed assignments. Each quiz/test is preceded by a practice quiz/test. Practice quizzes/tests can be downloaded from the website listed above and cannot be submitted late. Failure to complete a practice quiz/test will make the student ineligible for quiz/test corrections (an extra­credit assignment). Class Notes and Assignments:
All students are required to bring a spiral notebook to class each day in order to hold class notes.
The notebook should be kept neat and orderly. All assignments must be properly labeled.
No credit will be given for assignments that are not properly secured in the notebook (no loose sheets). No graffiti or other inappropriate markings should be on the notebook or other school related materials. Textbooks:
Each student will be assigned a textbook. Students are responsible for lost or damaged books; the cost of the textbook is approximately $90.00. Teacher Responsibilities:
