The MLB(major league baseball) has a protocol for concussions that goes with a new disable list(7 day DL). I believe that the new protocol and the new 7 day disabled list is the right protocol for the players and coaches to have that is mandatory from the league. The first reason why the new 7 day disabled list helps with concussions because it will help the doctors to diagnose the injury correctly. Another reason the 7 day disabled list is just right because its aim was to get the athlete cleared or prevent going back into competition to early. Lastly the 7 day disabled list is working to protect the athletes health overall and educating the athletic trainers, coaches, players, etc.. about concussions.…

Concussions cause the dangerous disease CTE that has already claimed the lives of many athletes in the NFL and in other sports. We are doing research on CTE but a lot more needs to be done. If the NFL is going to be safer they need to relinquish all of their information and research on player brain injuries. Some good things are being done to rule changes to make the game safer, but it is still not enough. There is a fine line however between changing rules and changing the game, which the NFL will have to navigate carefully. One of the better answers to these brain injuries is to improve the helmet protecting the head. Many developers have made ingenious new ideas to combat the concussion epidemic in football. It is up to the NFL to adopt the new innovations to the football helmet to drastically improve player safety. A person’s brain is the most important part of the body. It just makes sense to want to protect it as much as possible. As the public becomes more aware of the dangers football has on a player’s brain people may reconsider playing football. If the NFL is going to have a future, they must make their game safer. If people see less players effected by concussions on TV public perception of football will improve. Something clearly needs to be done to combat these serious health problems facing current and past NFL…
One thing is that currently, if a player has an concussion, he must pass an simple test before returning to the field. But that test isn’t the most effective way to diagnose a concussion. Every player gets a shot at the test when he’s 100% at the beginning of the season. So if he doesn’t get to that point, you bench him. The better way to do it is to bench him after sustaining a concussion.…

Last year, the NFL revealed that it expects nearly a third of retired players to develop permanent brain impairments.” While other games may be dangerous in some aspects football is known for specifically the concussions it causes. We need to take this seriously because many kids are eager to get back and play again even after having gotten a concussion, so they can help their team. Most people would say their mental stability is more important than making a big play in a game. So why are athletes being allowed back on the field before they are fully healed? The Centers for Disease control estimates more than 300,000 sports-related concussions occur each year in the United States, according to source one.
