If state is not happy with a federal law, in some cases they can change it. An example of this is marijuana. Under federal law it is illegal but certain states have made it legal. States can have laws that other states don’t have. This can make it difficult for people to know all of the laws in the area they are in when they travel throughout the country. People could be breaking a law and not even know it. In federal government the power is more balanced than unitary and confederate government. This keeps the central government and individual state governments from getting too strong. The power is shared between them.
In confederate governments the state governments have a lot of power. This makes it so that there can be large differences in law from state to state. The central government is very weak and does not have much control over the states. This leads to conflicts between the states and central government. Often it ends up so the states are acquaintances with each other and not much else. An advantage of confederate governments is that individual states can be very independent and if people aren’t happy with laws in one state they can go to another state with totally different
