To show respect you treat the individual with love, affection and kindness even though the other person treats you with disrespect. It is important to be non-judgemental and non-discriminatory because you may not understand what they have gone through. In healthcare, you have to be responsible because you will be responsible for the well-being of the patients. in health and social care, appropriate terms must be used at all times. it is important that people from different cultures and religion are not offended by your language. You need to make sure that when you are speaking you don't say anything that discriminates them. To have a positive relationship you shouldn't be using informal language like slang or jargon. For example, if you are talking to a high member of staff you should to use the term ‘innit’ as it doesn't show any respect towards the staff. To keep someone physically safe you need to complete a risk assessment which is ensuring the environment is safe for the service user. A risk assessment involves identifying the hazards, knowing who is at risk, evaluating the risks, recording the recommendations and reviewing the situation. Security checks are put in place to protect and take care of the young people around them. All staff have name tags and fobs to identify themselves, if a person has not got a fob or a name tag you must report this to a trusted adult or staff for safety. To keep someone emotionally safe you must treat the person with respect, care for them and to support them through difficult situations. The service provider must preserve the service user dignity in order to keep the person safe. You put the individual in the centre of your attention and work around them.
