These documents provided a lot of information ranging from the effects of Hereditary Spherocytosis to the definition and treatment options. The most important information I gathered from my medical records was the operation report on me performed by Dr Tan, and this was because it shows just how it can affect someone’s well-being and what ways they can perform surgery. A strength of this is that even though the medical records did not go into great detail, they could back up any other outside information such as websites or books that go into greater detail. Due to the fact that these medical records did not go into great detail with the information provided, websites was the next option and they provided a great deal of in depth information. An example of using the websites to make the websites reliable was the Genetics Home Referencing written by the U.S. National Library of Medicine states that 75% of cases its inherited by one parent. This was backed up by my records stating that I inherited the condition from only my father. Although the outcome provides a lot of information it cannot cover everyone’s individual effects and situation as people react differently and cope with different situations. Because the information can have a lot of medical terms that many people may not understand I tried to use language that everyone could understand, and if I couldn’t replace the medical term a definition would be provided beside it. An improvement that could have been made are that an interview could have taken place with my doctor if I was well organised and booked an appointment to gain an extra primary source. A strength of my outcome was that not only could I get in depth and reliable sources from my personal medical records, I could also sympathise with others with this condition because I also suffer from it.
