The film of Corpse bride starts out with Victor (Johnny Depp) and Victoria (Emily Watson) getting an arrange marriage. While Victor was practicing his vows in the woods he accidently married a corpse named Emily (Helena Bonham Carter). Emily takes Victor to the underworld so they could celebrate their marriage but all Victor wants is to get back to Victoria. Once Victoria figures out the situation she tries to explain the situation to everyone in the town but instead they want her to marry Lord Barkis. Victor must find a way to get to Victoria before it is too late. Burton used an old fashion setting, unique characters, and an unusual plot to make the film more interesting. Burton adds an old fashion setting to make the film more reveling.

The Everglot family (Victoria’s family) wasn’t a joyful family and doesn’t care about anyone but themselves. In the movie the reason the Everglots wanted Victoria to get married was because of their financial problems. Another way the characters are unique is how easily they accept Lord Barkis into the wedding. Lord Barkis from the beginning has been trying to interfere with the wedding between Victor and Victoria. You could tell this by seeing how Barkis reacts at the wedding rehearsal saying that Victor was “quite a catch” and acting like he was better than Victor. After Victor left into the underworld the second time the Everglots family made Victoria marry Barkis. Burton used an unusual plot to make the film suspenseful and to capture the audience’s attention. The movie is suspenseful because you never know what is gonna happen. You see this when Victor accidently marries Emily and he gets pulled down into the underworld. When Victor goes into the underworld its suspenseful to see what would happen in the land of the living. This also catches the audience attention when we don’t know what’s going on in the land of the living and when we were waiting to see what was gonna happen with Victoria. My final thoughts on the movie Corpse Bride is that is that it is old fashion, has unique characters and an unusual plot. But this helps the movie be different from any other movie I have seen before. I would definitely recommend the movie from any age to 9+ to see this worthwhile
