Of course we should be hopeful at times of complete, utter joy, but downcast when someone is suffering from fatal disease. I am not saying that we can’t feel the right emotions for the right situations, but we definitely need to be real about them. There are always ups, downs, and twists and turns, so we need to remain positive, but not blindly positive to the extent that when there is a down, our hopes and dreams are crushed for eternity…
It is extremely important to remain positive and optimistic, but we shouldn’t think thoughts like, “My life is going to be perfect forever and nothing bad will ever happen.” If something bad did happen, you would be miserable and gloomy. Instead, thoughts like, “I’m not going to fail or make a mistake and if I try my best then I will be happy”, will be far better. Statistics have proven that positive thinking extends your life.
