I appreciate your decision for deciding to send me over to the Corrections Training Academy.
Since joining the Academy I have learned more in depths and details about numerous aspects of verbal and non-verbal communication, and the importance of daily roles when interacting with inmates. I am learning about the extremes of correctional officer job duties and how the situation can go from typical to life-threatening in a split of a second. In addition, I am learning the importance of staying in control and maintain order when responding to emergency situations. From the moment I arrived to the Academy, I met other exceptional
correctional officers from other departments. So far, I’ve experienced various team building exercises where we brainstorm ideas and produce solutions. Trust building exercises has helped develop stronger bond with other correctional professionals. I’ve been learning about civil and criminal laws and the importance of correctly applying techniques and procedures that’s associated with incarceration and dealing effectively with inmates.
My sergeant Stange is an inspiration to me. I want to strive and achieve great success in being the most ethical and professional correctional officer. Being at the academy made me realize what an effort has been made on my behalf, and I am grateful to my agency for giving me such rare opportunity to expand my knowledge and career.
I am thankful for my sergeant Stange for her constant guidance, supervision and top notch professionalism. Thank you Chief Bishop for maintaining agency’s core values, offering the training, resources, and support. I look forward to applying newly acquired knowledge, principles and skills upon my return from the Academy.
Please join me on my graduation day that will be held at Washington State Criminal Justice Training Center 19010 1st Ave South, Burien, WA 98148 on April 21st, 2017 at 11:00 A.M.
Once again, thank you for getting me on board!
