“Beasts of England, Beast Ireland, Beast of every land and clime, Hearken to my joyful tidings of the Golden future time.” George Orwell’s “Animal Farm” depicts the corruption expressed by the communists of the Soviet Union when they gain excess power. The characters in the novella are portrayed as animals living on a farm.
The most important characters may not always be the major characters. An old, wise, and persuasive character, I connected most with old major while reading Animal Farm. The opening chapter of the novella exhibits old major inducing the animals to obtain their even-handed rights by rebelling against farmer jones, and eventually taking control of the farm. This act demonstrated the sense
of leadership old major projects to the animals. This sense of leadership connected most with me while reading the book. Being the eldest of my two siblings, it can be easily depicted that there is a sense of leadership that I must convey to them. The animals of animal farm look up to and listen to old major as my siblings look up to me to guide them in the right path.
Boxer carries the perfect combination of traits to be a stubborn follower. He is ignorant and throws himself in any direction the herd travels in. When reading animal farm, I found myself connecting least the boxer. Boxer is an extremely stubborn team player and cannot tell when enough is enough. When building the windmill, he overworked himself to a point of lung failure. Disregarding his pain, boxer put his health second to the windmill. For one thing, I am able to tell when enough is enough.
