1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This assignment has been prepared to define, analyse, evaluate the problems, propose solutions, draw conclusions and make recommendations for Corwin Corporation case study.
Corwin Corporations, a rapidly growing high- quality, rubber components manufacturer is selected to respond to a bid from one of its good customers, Peters Company. The request is based on manufacturing a new rubber product for Peters.
The evaluation used project management and general management studies to outline how Corwin Corporations resulted in the financial loss, cessation of a good relationship with Peters Company and also failure to handle the project successfully from initiation to execution. The problems experienced resulted in the project failing to meet its goals and the customer terminating the contract.
The analysis defines five main problems in handling Peter’s project. The problems analysed are: poor project selection process, no detailed scope specifications, lack of top or senior management support, late involvement of middle or functional management and poor change management process.
The analysis of the Corwin Corporation problems resulted in the investigations of the possible solutions that can be adopted by the organisation to minimise encountered problems. The five proposed solutions discussed include: effective project selection process, detailed scope specifications, top or senior management support, early involvement of middle or functional management and efficient change management process.
Based on the solutions discussed, conclusions were drawn which helped formulate the recommendations for each problem. The recommendations provide guidelines on how solutions must be implemented to address all the problems raised and to prevent future repetitions.
