As a supervisor, it is very necessary to understand the problems of the concerned employee (Rodgers). Here is set of procedure which may be followed in order to identify the problems of Rodger:

For employee’s counselling, it is very important to make the employee comfortable so that it would be easier for him to express his associated problems with job. After the counselling sessions, it has been identified that Rodger was happy with the incentives that were being provided by the employer. The only concerned problem was the lack of motivation. After the training sessions, Rodger’s level of motivation boosted. The trainings provided accelerated his performance. Because in companies, only high performing employees are referred towards advance training programs. This also made him realise that the company is concerned about his problems and they value him.
A very positive effect was observed in Rodger’s behaviour and the other team members also felt such attitude. Rodger performed better as he performed in previous tasks and he was able to lead his team in an enhanced way.
3. Comment on how his behaviour has affected the productivity of the project.
After the counselling sessions, Rodger’s behaviour showed a dramatic change. Initially, he was quite down and showed lack of interest and poor performance in tasks. These tasks were previously done with great interest and enthusiasm. But after some time, Rodger’s performance graph declined. When the problems were discussed and necessary changes were made, it was seen that the project objectives were accomplished with better outcome.
