Country Song Parody
The two artifacts that we will be discussing are the original song “Can’t You See,” by the Marshall Tucker Band, and the song that I parodied from its lyrics. The original song is classified in the genre of country rock. On the other hand the parody that I created would most likely fall under the genre of a comedic parody. I will mainly focus on how in the original artifact the hero just gives up all hope and accepts his fate right from the beginning, while the protagonists in the second one makes an, albeit, small attempt to fight against the antagonist of the story. The way I figured out that the song would would fall under the genre of a country rock song is from reading Robert Fontenot, an oldies music expert, who defines the genre as …show more content…

It is shown by the menagerie of over the top ways and scenarios in which our protagonist is willing to put himself through to be rid of a girl who has been doing him dirty. On the other hand the adapted artifact deals with all of the woes that are brought on by homework and projects in general. I am pretty sure that almost all students end up in this predicament at one point or another. One such scenario that is inevitable in college is when someone forgets to do a thousand word essay until the night it is due. Overall both artifacts serve the purpose of showcasing the hardships that people will face over their …show more content…

In the beginning of the the adapted artifact the sequence of events are in the correct order. The protagonist in the original uses a train to go to a train station to get a ticket, while in my adapted one the protagonist uses his vehicle to go to the theatre then gets a ticket to watch a movie. The Original sequence of events has someone going to a station on a train to get on a train. So this change was to make it less confusing. The next one was about the protagonist digging a hole. The hole he, or she, is digging is not a physical one, but metaphorical. The hole is bad grades that a person digs by not doing homework. It later states that everyone is going to know about the hole that is being dug by the protagonist. This is in reference to how everybody and their dog end up asking you about your grades. Inevitably the person is going to tell a lot of people that they are not doing very well, it also has the connotation that even though people know the protagonist does not really care. The original has the protagonist kind of just leaving quietly from the public eye, and going softly into that cold good night. It shows how each scenario creates a different feeling. In my adapted artifact the protagonist feels this kind of resentful rage due to being forced to do this horrendous task. Then after the chorus the protagonist talks about how they are going to go to sleep because they never get any sleep from always having to stay up to

Unity and Variety. The objects used in this piece are very cohesive. If you did not know the original story, you would not necessarily feel that the objects were out of place. The variety in this work is displayed using the different objects to change the meaning. The broom and the rifle provides contrast and variety. The white cotton balls on the floor with the black fist protruding upward also provides variety to this work.…

If you’ve ever had any sort of higher, formal education, you’ve probably noticed that, more and more often- BLEEP. “TEACHERS EXCUSE THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. WE NEED TO SEE THE FOLLOWING STUDENTS: STUDENT A, STUDENT B, STUDEN C, STUDENT D . . . STUDENT Z, STUDENT AA, STUDENT AB, STUDENT AC . . . AND STUDENT EO IN THE OFFICE PLEASE. THANK YOU.” Anyway, as I was saying: more and more oft- BLEEP. “WE ALSO NEED TO SEE STUDENT EP IN THE OFFICE. THANK YOU.” AS I WAS SAYING: more and more often, classes are being INTERRUPTED by long announcements. This creates Frequent Announcement Rage. This is distracting to the learning environment, which the rule-makers on the school board have decided is a serious problem, currently ranking just behind what undershirt colors students wear and several points ahead of student objectives.…

Rockabilly is one of the oldest styles of rock and roll. It blends rock and roll with the music genre of bluegrass and country music, with the rhythm of blues music. It can be known for “hillbilly” music, but with the influence it has on today's music, it would not be labeled for “hillbillies”, and yet it had the beat of swing. In the book, “The Appearance of the Electric Bass Guitar: A Rockabilly Perspective” written by Roy C. Brewer, He writes about the different basses that were used in rockabilly which gave the genres sound. He explains how in the early 1950s, rockabilly was popular due to the fact they were one of the first genres to introduce rock…

    Catcher in the Rye Song

After looking at quite a few songs and their lyrics, I found that the song “Yesterday” by the Beatles represented well a few of Holden’s situations on The Catcher in the Rye. The song expresses the emotions Holden feels for Jane. In The Catcher in the Rye, Holden remembers the relationship he once had with Jane and how it was so simple, and how happiness came so easily when he was with her. Like on page 79 of the novel, Holden says, "You never even worried with Jane... All you knew was, you were happy” The lyrics in the song also say "Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play." It was so easy for Holden before, but now he struggles to enjoy relationships with girls and he misses the past when love was only about being happy. The thought of Jane dating someone else drives him crazy, so when he finds out that Stradlater was out with Jane, and that they were in Ed Bankey’s car together, he runs away from school alone. The line "Now I need a place to hide away" in the song represents that situation pretty well. After Holden realizes that all the happy times he had with Jane are in the past and always will be, he gets really sad and wants to hide from the world, and he hopes to hold on to his memory of "yesterday." I believe that the song "Yesterday" represents really well Holden's feelings for the past when Jane and him were together.…

After listening to the different lyrics in each song there are many similar cultural narratives that relate to the Jay Z and Hebdige readings. For example, culture is shown in the song “Run DMC” In the song he talks about how he loves collard greens and chicken. In Hebdibge’s reading he talks about how race, religion, and class surrounds the subculture which has a connection to this song. In Ice Cubes song, “Today was a Good Day” he is thanking god for another day, saying how he cant believe today. This song shows his community origin from growing up in the struggle. In Notorious BIG song “Juicy” and Jay Zs story there are many similarities. In the song Biggie talks about growing up in the struggle and how black people were stereotyped and misunderstood. One of the main lines in this song was “It was all a dream” referring to the dreamt of a career in the music industry.…

A teacher tried meeting everybody's needs. She taught history, a subject that needs a different approach than many other subjects. In order to do well one must to fully understand why and how something happened. Without a background and understanding, the events of history aren't significant. She showed examples of how something happened, while going into deep explanations while she was presenting the information. She displayed were photos, movies, music, or even acted events out. The stories she told helped students understand the information while giving them the background the students needed on why it was happening, or how it was happening. Making it relate to the student made them care more. Part of the reason she taught this way is because she knew she was teaching students challenging material, but made it possible to have a full understanding.…

In the musical parody perform this way by weird al yankervitch this song is a very different song but it does show satire by addressing that lady gaga is not actually how she is she just performs how she is. In lady gaga’s hit song born this way it tells you that she was born the way she is but in the parody it tells you know you’re not born that way you just putting it on for the public. Also it easily recognisable because she just dresses up the way she does in these wacko costumes it also makes fun of the costumes in the clip but in the visuals.…

The artifact I chose was a short film about bullying called “Sticks and Stones.” In the beginning of the video a mom finds an audio recording of her daughter. While she is listening to the recording it shows the daughter sitting, standing, walking, etc. in various locations. In the recording the girl is talking about how she was bullied and the effects it had on her. She goes on to say that she had no friends and no one to go to for help. At the end of the recording the girl tells her mother goodbye and it shows the girl looking at a hangman’s knot. During the last fifteen seconds of the video a couple of statistics are given and then the names…
