"Why isn't my own house marked on my map?" Faustina says, confused and frustrated. She can vaguely remember the location of her house, but having it on her map would be much more useful. She needed to get home because news can spread slowly. A bombed district is something her superiors needed to know about.
"Didn't someone say there was a railroad near our house?" she tries to remember their words, but she can't recall everything they said …show more content…
that day. She pulls out her compass and notices the railroad goes towards the direction of her house. Crossing her fingers, she follows the tracks in hopes that it would help her.
Getting lost didn't take her mind off of the bombing for long. She couldn't help but think about the state the district should be in.
She thought of how the government would react.
Patronnia does not want to start a war with Aplagmon, another superpower nation. Aplagmon might be stronger than Patronnia, too. She was confused, for Aplagmon has no reason to bomb Patronnia. The relationship between the two nations and their allies was fine. There was normal trading and traveling between them. But, relations have been tense uneasy since Aplagmon received a new leader. Faustina thought this could be the last straw.
The previous leader was overthrown by two mysterious individuals. No-one could fight back because the individuals would threaten their family and friends. At one point, they started capturing people with defining traits. No-one knows why. One target was Avillia because of their pointy ears, slanted eyes, and dark skin. Another target was the ________ because of their height and pointy eyes. Aplagmon almost wiped them out because they were so close.
Following the tracks was a good choice, for it brought her closer to her house. She started recognizing more things, and the dirt path became more noticeable. From where she was, she could see her house. An Ingentis tree grew beside it. Because the tree was almost 1,000 feet, it was hard to ignore. It was taller than most buildings, but,for some reason, it stopped growing. Faustina forgot how cruel the bombing was when she saw the tree she was so familiar with. She realized she didn't have the Ingentis tree marked on her
map.
"What is wrong with my map? None of the important things are marked on it."
She exited the forest, and the trees were becoming more and more spaced out. Soon, she reached the plains that surrounded everything. A border of trees in the distance framed the plains. The setting sun made the red in the grass stand out and made the creek shine with an orange color. You could also see the worn cobblestone path that led into the large part of town. It was a pretty sight.
Faustina hasn't completely forgotten about the bombing, though. She leaned forwards in the saddle and the horse went at a faster pace.
Faustina slowed to a stop when she got closer to her house. She would return the horse she borrowed tomorrow. Perhaps she would write the letter tomorrow, also. She was too fatigued from the journey to go right then. Faustina dragged herself to her front steps. Before she even got a chance to grab the doorknob, the door swung open.
