You noticed his hair was pulled back into a tie while a small section on his right side was braided and hanging freely. The boy bowed to Qui-Gon and looked down to you.

"Who's he?", you whispered to Qui-Gon. He bowed back to the boy and kneeled down to your level.

"(Y/N), this is my Padawan Obi-Wan. He will be at my side learning the ways of the force from me." Qui-Gon turned to Obi-Wan, "This is a child we rescued a year ago on the planet Nivea."

Obi-Wan looked down at you and smiled, "I am happy to

You will be with the other initiates learning the ways of the force." You felt disappointment considering you would not be about to see Qui-Gon everyday, but you smiled at the thought of becoming a Jedi like Qui-Gon. You stomach began to rumble loudly and Qui-Gon laughed as he walked you and Obi-Wan to the dining hall. Several masters, Padawans, and Younglings were already eating their first meal of the day. You sit at table close to a window and wait for Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan to arrive with food. Qui-Gon makes a plate for himself while also making yours. Obi-Wan glanced over to you sitting at the table and noticed an older Jedi Master he did not recognize handing you colored pencils and paper. You smiled at the master and hugged his neck. Obi-Wan smiled too when the master patted you on the head as you began to draw. Curiosity soon struck

THE BOY HITCHHIKING on the back-country Kansas road was nineteen years old. He had been dropped there by a farmer in a Model T Ford who had turned off to the north. Then he waited for three hours. It was July and there were no clouds. The wheat fields were flat and went straight to the horizon. The boy had two plums and he ate them. A blue Plymouth coupe went by with a man and a woman. They were laughing. The woman had blonde hair and it was all loose and blew from the window. They didn't even see the boy. The strands of straw-colored hair seemed to be waving to him. Half an hour later a farmer stopped in a Ford pickup covered with a layer of dust. The boy clambered into the front seat. The farmer took off again without glancing at him. A forty-five revolver lay next farmer's buttocks on the seat. Seeing it , the boy felt something electric go off inside of him. The revolver was old and there were rust spots on the barrel. Black electrician's tape was wrapped around the handle.…
