Innovation brings change to organizations, individual lives and the society. So, the most important part of innovation is to convince people that the new ideas are useful and will be helpful in adding value to their lives (Bingham & Spradlin 2011). This is because many people are resistant to change. In a business context, innovation is defined as the process of introducing new products into the market, or the action of bringing changes to something already existing in the market by introducing new methods, ideas, or products (Lumsdaine & Binks 2007). Drucker (1985) provides that innovation is the act that gives resources a new capacity to create wealth. On the other hand, J Brown-Kamn (1984) defines it as the process of generating new ideas and making appropriate decision about them to create something useful. Overall, innovation is about creating new things that fulfill specific goals, or improve the value of life.

Innovation introduces change to organisations, the society and the lives of individuals. So the most important aspect of innovation is persuading people that new ideas are beneficial and will be supportive in adding values to an individual’s life (Bingham & Spradlin 2011).

Creativity allows teams to solve problems and leverage existing resources simply by virtue of having different thoughts and perspectives. Emotional intelligence promotes team trust which fosters a collaborative culture which increases the creativity of the team. Increased EQ in individuals and teams allows for better communication and openness to different ideas. Team emotional intelligence is the ‘ability of a group to develop a set of norms that manage emotional processes’ (Druskat & Wolff, 2001b, p. 133). Jordan and Lawrence (2009) suggest four components to team EQ. These are: ‘awareness of own emotions, awareness of other’s emotions, management of own emotions, and management of other’s emotions’ (p. 454). Barczak, Lassk & Mulki (2010) hypothesized that both team trust and a collaborative culture are positively correlated with team creativity. Barczak et al. (2010) explains team trust as feeling that members can be vulnerable and their teammates will not take advantage of that. The authors define a collaborative culture as one that fosters open communication, values the differing viewpoints of its employees, and encourages an atmosphere of respect and support for one another. The authors conducted a study of over 400 undergraduate students who were placed into teams. When the data was analyzed, support was found for the hypothesizes: both team trust as well as a collaborative culture, foster creativity in teams. Barczak et al. (2010) postulated that the relationship to creativity in teams began with the EQ of the teams. From there, trust is built which allows for the creation of a collaborative culture; ultimately leading to higher levels of creativity among the teams. The authors suggest using the information found by the study in selection of candidates for positions that require working on a team.…

The right hemisphere is the one that operates creativity. The specialized characteristics of the right hemisphere make it the seat of curiosity, synergy, experimentation, metaphoric thinking, playfulness, solution finding, artistry, flexibility, synthesizing and in general, risk taking. In addition, it is likely to be opportunistic, future oriented, welcoming of change, and to function as the center of our visualization capability. Every one of these specialized modes is capable of enhancing an individual's creative thinking. For example, an intuitive idea that pops into your mind and appears to solve a problem can be experimented with, visualized, integrated with other ideas and ultimately developed into a possible solution. That's the right hemisphere part.…

People always believe that innovation means new technology, new products, or inventions, but innovation is wider than that. Different people may define innovation in a variety of ways. Michael Stanleigh said, “Innovation goes beyond technology and requires collaboration from many areas to come together to achieve success” (2014). Steve Jobs believes that “innovation has nothing to do with how many R&D dollars you have……It’s not about money. It’s about the people you have, how you’re led, and how much you get it (1988). Innovation is an idea, a method, a program, or a product, which could help you change something and obtain benefits. Simply put, innovation means something new, fresh, special, different, etc. Innovation is an inevitable trend for HR because HR plays a driver role in a company or an organization (KRMG HR Transformation, 2010).…
