Title: The Criminal Justice System and its Components
Word Count:
There are many components that make the Criminal Justice System of what it is today. Before this module I had no idea the process it takes to go from receiving the call at the 911 dispatcher and to get to the level at the Courts with the Judge and make a decision for the criminal, I will go over a small summary on it, in this essay. Thanks to this module I was able to understand the different duties of The Criminal Justice System, such as the dispatcher, police officer, police supervisor, detective, district and defense attorney, court judge, parole and probation officer, etc. I will go over some of these …show more content…
I honestly did not know there were that many but here they are as shown in the Power Point of this module and in a video : 911 Dispatch, Police and Emergency Services, Crime Scene Techs and Investigators, District Attorney, Defense Attorney, Judge and Jury, Probation and Parole Officers, Corrections Prison Parole Board, Service Oriented Organizations. Here are some of the duties that this positions execute: The Dispatchers, as the name indicates is the one that dispatches the responders and here basically is the emergency communication center, 1st point of contact/communication. The Police Emergency Services include the Law Enforcement, Security, Medics and Fire. They are basically your first responders at the scene. The CST collect physical evidence, and the Investigators, write the reports, do the interviews with witnesses and suspects, and also prepare the case to the prosecutors. The District Attorney file the cases and present them to the court. The Attorney General is called at State level, US Attorney at the Federal level. The Defense Attorney is just the defendant of the client who is about to be prosecuted. Judge is the one who oversees the trial and the Jury who determines the guilt or innocence of the client. Probation Officers are those who get the prisoners who instead of going to prison are sent on probation, and Parole Officers are those who get prisoners who are free of custody and will be inducting themselves into the community but still serve the remaining of their sentence under the parole officer supervision. My main point of all of these different details of this system is that if any of these components were to fail the work of the other can become either more difficult or practically impossible to finish.
