1. Is competition ever constructive?
I think competition can be constructive, as long as it is a mutual competitive nature between the groups or individuals. For example I played basketball in High School and in practice we competed against each other to make each other better. Most times we overachieved because we were competing.
2. Does competition increase one’s motivation to succeed
Yes I think it does increase a person’s motivation to succeed because you want to win. At that point you would want to perform as best as you can.
3. Do you think Competition improves achievement and performance?
Yes I do believe that competition improves these things. I gave my example in my response to question one and it applies here. Reason being, you are pushing yourself when you’re competing so you are only going to perform better or more efficiently.
4. Give me two examples of “hyper competitiveness” in our society?
There is hyper competitiveness in the computer industry between the companies Microsoft and Apple.
Also within our political campaigns between the Democrat and Republican Parties.
