Each religion has many different views on life. For example Buddhism teaches us that life brings on constant changes and someone can always find a way to make him or herself or a situation better. It shows to view everything in a positive way rather than negative. Hinduism is one of the largest religion practiced today, though unlike Buddhism and Taoism, Hinduism believe in multiple God and each God teaches a different view. Hinduism believes in reincarnation, which is why they don’t kill cows or elephants. Taoism out of all 3 is the smallest religion and is a Chinese religion that practice living life with pure harmony leaving anything negative out. Which I honestly think is something that is very similar between all three, they all believe…

Critical thinking involves a persons ability to reason in order to support their belief. To begin the critical thinking process one must acknowledge the problem at hand, find information on the problem; research, examine the problem closely, apply moral principles, decide the best ethical choice and be able to support the claim, then go back over the process on how one came to their conclusion and lastly reflect on their decision. I have learned that the critical thinking skills process is a buiding block, each step builds onto the other to come to a ethical solution at the end. There is no shortcut to the steps and if I do so then I will not get a logical conclusion to my problem. I beleive out of all the steps the one I find myself using…

Victor Hanson provides a very opinionated, nearly ferocious representation of what the defense budget cutbacks by the Obama administration would do to not only to the department of defense but possibly to the American way of living. His article supports vast and extreme comparisons of the outcomes of the defense cutbacks. His thinking and the article describe many significant critical thinking shortcomings to support his viewpoint. This article will analyze two of the deficiencies, appealing to fear and a false dichotomy.…

In the book “Asking the Right Questions, A Guide to Critical Thinking” M. Neil Browne and Stuart M. Kelley discuss the ten steps to critical thinking. In the following pages I will apply these steps to a memo that was sent to Mr. Robert Shaw of Triad Insurance Company of Indianapolis and discuss them in detail. The memo was from Ms. Denise Khali, Vice President of Human Resources. D. Khali, personal communication, October 04, 2010.…
| I am a multi-sensory learner, so my learning strategy is to use the style that seems to fit at the time. If I am reading from a textbook, then I will read aloud and take notes while I read. I will then read the notes aloud and chart anything on the computer that needs to be charted. I would also look for opportunities to take breaks, to help staying attentive.…
A position opens in your department at work. You recommend to a coworker and friend in another department that she should apply. You previously consulted with this person on small projects, and she appears knowledgeable and responsible. In fact, you became friends through these work contacts. Your friend appreciates your recommendation and arranges a meeting to ask you more details about the work done by your department. The meeting is productive, and your friend takes notes to help with the application process. Your friend stops by your desk a few days later to thank you for your help, because the application was long and detailed. She confides that some of the information she included on the application is not entirely accurate. Some of her work experience did not match the job requirements and needed to be reworded for a better fit. Your friend thanks you again and says, “I hope we’ll be working together soon!”…
I do not think that colleges have moral obligations to help students become ethical individuals because for one, there are a lot of people who attend college from different backgrounds, and with that comes different upbringings. I believe that colleges don't teach ethical morals because it would contradict what was taught to the student by their family, friends, and other social and religious influences. I also believe that colleges don't teach ethical morals because there are a lot of careers that require for you to have no type of emotional attachment in your field of work. For example, you're a licensed doctor, and for the first time, a small child dies…
In my own education, the reading activities that have had the most effect on my reading have varied. During my primary years, the strategies that we now call direct reading instruction helped build the foundational comprehension and vocabulary skills needed for reading more complex texts in college. While reading, I use context clues to try and understand any unknown vocabulary words. If this strategy does not work, I use my computer to look up synonyms for the word and re-read the sentence by replacing it with a word I understand. Additionally, I reread the entire paragraph with the synonym to derive the meaning of the concept or topic.…

Problem-solving and critical thinking are vital for law enforcement employees. One must think critically while performing their duties as a police officer on the streets, a probation officer in the community, or as a prosecutor in a court of law. Prosecutors and defense attorneys must use their discretion in cases that are brought before them. They must decide the right avenue to go with these cases. They can either give a plea bargain or go to trial.…
