On the fourteenth I was assigned to the traffic unit on the night shift. The officer assigned to this position is given a traffic unit police vehicle, which is equipped with more items then other patrol cars. We radio into dispatch for a priority unit to back us up. We then arrested the individual and drove to the jail. Most of the night consisted on specifically traffic duty with a slight amount of citizen calls.…

Leadership. Why is proper leadership important? Is there a model out there that makes a good leader? There are some who think that change is bad or there is fear when change is merely mentioned. Why is there so much apprehension about change, what is there to fear. “There is nothing to fear but fear itself” (FDR). We fear change because we fear that our world or our comfort zone being infringed upon. Apple Inc. has said “Here 's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They 're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can 't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.” Is going against conventional wisdom really innovative or is it just the few who will to take the risk that can do it. In this paper I am going to analyze Apple and the change in leadership and their corporate model over the past 20 years. They went from being an innovative company to dwindling into obscurity to come roaring back into being one of the biggest companies in the world.…

The National Incident Management System (NIMS) was developed by the Secretary of Homeland Security at the request of the President to integrate effective practices in emergency preparedness and response into a comprehensive national framework for incident management. It guides departments and agencies at all levels of the private sector, nongovernmental organizations, and the government by using a proactive and systematic approach to prevent, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate the effects in order to reduce the loss of life and property and harm to the environment. NIMS also works hand in hand with the National Response Framework (NRF) and provides the template for the management of incidents, while the NRF provides the structure and mechanisms for national-level policy for incident management.…
One main reason that a Homeland Security Assessment needs to be conducted for an organization is to protect their infrastructure. The need for this assessment would be more crucial if an organization was identified as a high risk of being a potential target. Organizations that would fall under this umbrella would include but are not limited to “sea and water ports, airports, gas pipelines, sewer and power plants as well as biological or chemical facilities” (Fisher, 2014). In this day and time, we can also add educational facilities to this list, as there have been several attacks on universities that were believed to have been terrorist related.…
