The multitude roles, responsibilities and functions of AADK are shouldered by the staffs of this agency. Working with patients in the drug treatment and rehabilitation centre is considered as inherently stressful. Some of them work in the administration line while others may directly deal with the drug abusers on the streets or inmates in the rehabilitation centre. There are a number of stressors associated with the health and helping professions such as time pressures, workload, multiple roles and emotional issues (Lambert, et al., 2004; Lim, Hepworth & Bogossian, 2011; McCann, Beddoe, McCormic, Huggard, Kedge, Adamson & Huggard, 2013). Clients are required to come and report themselves to the AADK staffs at Cure and Care Rehabilitation Centre (CCRC) once a month and they are required to participate in the programmes planned for them such as counselling and community program to ensure their recovery (AADK, 2015). The workloads and responsibilities that they need to handle may subject the staffs to a lot of stress and pressure. Job stress, in general, can lead to negative impact on the staffs and the organization, as well as the clients (Downey, 2014). If workplace stress is not managed effectively, this could lead to several negative personal and performance implications. Professionals working in highly stressful setting are at risk of conditions such as anxiety, depression, secondary traumatic stress, and burnout (Rees, Breen, Cusack, & Hegney, 2015). Burnout is a situation that is linked to symptoms of cognitive impairment such as memory loss, concentration difficulties, and problem solving complex tasks. Individuals suffering from burnout may show increasing absenteeism, reduced productivity and inability to provide safe care, thus compromising quality care to their clients (Mealer, Jones, Newman, McFann, Rothbaum & Moss, 2012). High stress at the workplace may also lead to impaired work performance, and potentially compromising client care (Barnett, et al., 2012).
