Topic 4 Study Guide
This study guide is a tool designed to prepare students for the Topic 4 Quiz. Instructors will grade the study guide for completion, not for accuracy.
Download the study guide and type in your answers below the questions. Save the study guide to your computer and submit when complete. There is no need to submit the study guide to Turnitin. After submitting the study guide to the instructor, save it for use when taking the Topic 4 Quiz.
The quiz will be graded for accuracy, so take time to seek the correct answers for this study guide before you attempt the quiz. Once you start the quiz, do not exit the quiz until the entire quiz is completed. Exiting out of the quiz before it is complete may result in a zero grade.
Please type your answers below each question.
1. Read Philippians 2:5-11 and briefly describe the direction Jesus’ life took.
Although Jesus was God, he took the nature of a humble, obedient human servant. This obedience even took him to the point of death on a cross for the salvation of humankind.

2. Read John 1:1-3. What other familiar passage in Scripture does this remind you of?
The "In the beginning" part reminds me of Genesis 1 because Jesus was with God in the beginning and all things were made through him.

3. In what ways does the textbook say that Jesus is similar to Moses and David?
Jesus was a great leader and deliverer, like Moses and David.

4. Briefly summarize the Parable of the Sower from Mark 4.
A farmer sows seed in a field:
• Seed falls on paths, birds eat it
• Some seed falls where there are rocks, and not much soil. Plants grow quickly, but soon the sun dries them. There is not enough soil, and the plants die.
• Some seed begins to grow in a place where there are too many weeds. The weeds stop the growth of the plants, and the plants die.
• But other seed falls on good ground. So, the plants grow well. The farmer has a harvest from these plants.
Farmer = Jesus
Seed = Good News
Places = different

    Jesus not only served God but also all of humanity. Jesus crossed national, racial and economic barriers without hesitation. Jesus is shown again and again as one having authority not only by his spoken word but over the forces of nature, over Satan and his demons, over sickness and disease, and even over death.
