Play Ball! Those two words, to me mean more then my own self. Baseball to me is not part of my life, it is my life. I know that hard work pays off, so i spend all my extra time i have out training. Alex Rodriguez, a famous baseball player and role model of mine gave me the best on how to look at my goals. He said, "always fallow your dreams, don't let anyone tell you that you cant be something." Ever since I was a little boy, I have loved the game of baseball. I would always be glued to the television when a game was. The game and me were unseperateable. The biggest thing i think i struggle with is when people tell me that im wasting my childhood away playing so much baseball. That im putting all this work in to make it no where. Dealing with these people is defiantly a hardship. Only because there are so many people who believe that there is no chance for me to play at the professional level. If you research the chance of a average american boy my age and in my situation, making it the the professional level of baseball. The chances a astronomical and only one in one hundred seventy five thousand chance that i could be chosen to play. Even with such a little chance to me the efort is worth it . With the numbers being so high, people try to use that against me. Yes numbers are important but no numbers can tell me how good i really am.
Even with such a high number, my passion for the game is too great to just give up now. Yes the chances are high, but the reward is even higher. Just like Rodriquez said, always fallow your dreams. With being a baseball professional baseball player, there are many responsibilities, some like how you handle situations, how u care yourself and who you are off the field. I personally feel that todays athletes carry themselves in the wrong way. With me such a believer in Christianity, I belie that ever player should be thanking our God for the opportunities he has placed in there lives. I

I am not a fan of baseball. I don’t consider it a sport. This is most likely due to the idea being drilled into my head by my middle school lacrosse coach. He had a bumper sticker that had a little cartoon boy next to a lacrosse goal, whizzing on a baseball, but I digress. Walking into the room, I had the preconceived notion that it would be boring. Because baseball is a boring sport. They don’t even move half the time. I decided to keep an open mind anyway, because I needed material to write an essay for my English class and because I was at a new school, starting a new chapter in my life.…

The next year 2012 he won the AL Rookie of the Year award. His number is 27 and he bats right, and throws right. His batting average is .309 and he has 572 hits, 98 home runs, and 307 runs batted in, and 373 runs.…

Basketball and baseball are the greatest things to ever happen to me. There is not one day where I do not enjoy shooting hoops or hitting home runs. People always say that I should be playing baseball because of how fit and athletic I am, so I tried it out, and it turned out I was pretty good. For basketball it was a different story. People have said that I was way too short, but my first game I scored about twenty points and everyone kept quiet.…

Did you know Babe Ruth wore a cabbage leaf under his hat to keep him cool? Did you know the odds of a fan getting hit by a baseball are 300,000 to 1? And did u know the shortest baseball player that ever played was recorded to be 3 feet and 7 inches? These are interesting facts I stumbled upon research, but I bet most of you did not know. There are many interesting facts that people like you and I don’t know about baseball throughout its history. We watch baseball games for the sake of enjoyment like every other sport but most people, like myself, don’t know how it all began. For the past week I researched various websites about the history of baseball and found interesting facts about how baseball was created, what baseball itself has gone through up until today’s date to earn the title of “The American past time”, and how special its Hall of Fame really is.…

One of the most important beliefs that Americans share is that personal striving results in upward economic mobility. The foundation of this belief is the essence of what is known as the “American dream”. For those who follow this dream, the conclusion must be made that one can overcome any obstacle with the necessary talent and determination. One of the most popular means in increasing one’s social status is through sports. Sports are ideal for understanding the pursuit of the American dream because achievement and success is highly emphasized in all sports. Also, sports figures frequently play lead role in the “rags to riches” stories Americans hear from the media. No one in sports today can carry the title of rags to riches to rags to riches again as does Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton. Born on May 20th 1981, Josh was the first overall pick in the 1999 Major League Baseball Draft by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. He was considered a blue chip prospect until injuries and a drug addiction derailed his career in 2001.…

Every single day I was outside either playing catch or working out. I remember at the time I was playing for the St Louis Sting, I continued the season to have the most innings pitched, lowest earned run average, second highest batting average, most doubles, most strike outs, and I also pitched my first no-hitter. Without having the dedication or motivation none of this could have happened. I went from playing catch once a week to everyday. I also would continue on and play baseball at Parkway South High School and lead that season in strikeouts. As I grew older I started to realize that I have the capability to play baseball for the rest of my life and that's something that is unexplainable. To be able to do something you love to do for the rest of your life is remarkable to me. I get that all because of a game.…

(Hume). “Becoming a pro takes great responsibility and it is very hard to become great, but if you have the will and the mind you can become great” (Hume). Growing up, baseball was everything to me. I watched every single diamondbacks game growing up and learned something new every game. I first started playing at the age of five on a little league team with seven of my best friends. We were inseparable. We practiced together, went to school together and all lived in the same neighborhood. We all aspired to one day win a state championship for our high school. Suddenly we didn’t come to the field expecting to win. We came to the field expecting to lay a whooping on someone, and more often than not that’s what ended up happening. Coming into junior year there was an expectation to win state. Anything else would leave us unfulfilled. We finished with 23 wins and 7 losses and ranked number two going into the state playoffs. We lost in the semi-finals 4-3, which was a huge disappointment and upset. But seven of my best friends and I got together and decided to take this loss to heart. We decided that resilience is better than dejection and vouched to work harder and longer than ever before to decide our own fate in this upcoming season. State playoffs came again and we were 24 and 6, ranked number one going into state. We won the first three games in rather convincing fashion, and suddenly I found myself in the one place I had worked so hard all my life to get to: the state championship game. As we took the field when the game was just about to start, I looked around the stadium at the fans, friends, jerseys of retired major league players. Suddenly it all became so surreal. We played the best game of our season and won 4-1, capping off a dream season and achieving our life-long goal to win a state championship. We decided to take the extra time and effort it took to achieve success, and this showed me that discipline and dedication are the keys to success in any aspect of life, on and off the baseball…
