School has the potential to greatly impact a student's opinion of education. In many cases a poor high school experience can influence students to not continue their education. When the schools are so large it makes it impossible for each student to be personally attended to and watched strictly. So if for some reason a student is falling behind in school the school could not possibly follow up with each student who has bad grades. Another thing that is common is many stop going to school after high school but have not learned any practical skills to help them get a job. This making the issue of those who are uneducated are unable to get better jobs which will help them support themselves and their family. The idea of not getting an education that provides students with the necessary to succeed professionally was also demonstrated in the Grapes of Wrath. This issue was explored in the idea that many of the farmers who were coming from California looking for work were only qualified to help farm, having no formal education, but there were not enough jobs available for so many people leaving most severely impoverished. Many people consider this issue to be one that should be solved only by the individuals who are directly affected. Saying that because the poor education system does not affect them they should not have to fix it. Or when the subject of reform is brought up people claim that they are going to the same schools that the poverty-stricken people are so why are they not able to succeed in the same way they are. In considering this opinion people completely forget to consider all other luxuries they are afforded besides which schools they are able to attend. Such as financial situation or parent involvement. This results in a whole group of people who are completely against the idea of any type of reform. Lastly, people claim that people are not successful is because they are lazy and unmotivated. This is completely presumptuous considering most people who are impoverished are not lazy nor unmotivated but are dealing with many other issues in their lives. Which includes having to go to work during the school day in order to support their family or not having the financial capacity to have everything required for school. Regardless of the situation many people deny the idea that the education system is a national concern because it would cause most people to care for people who they deem "less than them".
