room and board, on top of the full time job of school, and sports. But the dilemma is not in the money or in the scholarship itself; instead it lies in the eligibility and ethics of the issues. Take for instance Joe Schmoe, a well-rounded basketball player for the University of…

Soonerthon is a year-long fundraising event ending with a twelve-hour dance marathon in the spring. All the proceeds raised benefits The Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City through funding medical research and family support programs. The programming committee is in charge of planning every minute of the twelve-hour event dance marathon. Within the committee, my personal responsibility was to design and organize a children’s carnival at the main event for the “miracle kids” from the hospital. The joy that radiated from the children that passed through the carnival was contagious, not only to myself but also to the other 2,000 OU students that attended the Soonerthon event as well.…

Why I deserve to be considered for the South Central Border All-Academics Scholarship is an easy answer, because I plan on continuing to play sports in college including dance and maybe throwing the javelin. Most students would give a heart wrenching explanation, but I go on facts. Fact one; I will be continuing to participate in dance at college. Fact two; academics do not come easy to me and so I have to work extremely hard at it. Fact three; I will work extremely hard to make the school record in javelin by throwing 109 feet. Fact four; I will be a part of dance team in college to help pay for books and tuition in college because I can not afford college otherwise. I go on facts and do not believe in lying so I will tell you that dance and…

I do not think any other place could have had an impact on me like this place…

Although this is logical a division one scholarship is about $25,000. Divisions under that have less scholarship money. As stated in an article, “A $25,000 scholarship may seem like a lot of money, but it really cover the basics. IT covers thousands of dollars in mysterious unknown universities fees, tuition, housing, a meal-plan, and multiple hundred-dollar textbooks” (Hartnett 1). Even though scholarships cover lots of survival needs. What about clothes, transportation, and money for extra things. Scholarships aren’t a good excuse not to pay the…

Scholarship to me means giving your best in the classroom, and persevering through no matter what. I enjoy all of my subjects; I think I am good in all of them. I turn in my assignments on time, and the best I can do. I get involved with school projects, or whatever I can do to help the school. I pay attention, and am involved in class discussions. I also try to help others if they do not understand.…

Scholarships are found to be more commonly given out for academics rather than sports. Academic scholarships are promoted from the states to be given out. In Division Three colleges they aren’t even allowed to offer athletic scholarships so they tend to hand out more money for a student's’ academics. Colleges are more willing to give out more money for academics if the student…
Scholarships, yes scholarships. For people to get scholarships they must go above and beyond what they currently do. What this means is that people have to get straight A’s and not mess around with clowns. What that means is to basically not hang out with people who always gets in trouble. Find friends who want that same goal so they benefit off of each other. They’ll help each other out and colleges will recognize…
