Daily Routine
Joshua’s routine In the morning I get up at a quarter past seven when I have classes.
On Saturdays and Sundays I don’t have classes, so I wake up at nine o’clock.
I always go to the bathroom, I have a shower, brush my teeth, comb my hair and get dressed. I usually have breakfast at home.
I usually go to school by bus. I never walk to school and when it’s raining my father drives me.
At half past eight I sometimes have English and at ten o’clock I have a break. I have a sandwich and a cake. I always talk with my classmates.
In the afternoon I often go back home on foot and have lunch with my parents.
I sometimes have lunch at the school canteen except on Wednesdays and, of course, at the weekends. I don’t like canteen food.
After lunch I do my homework and I study some school subjects for an hour. Afterwards, I play with my friends or I play computer games until seven o’clock.
I go to the swimming pool twice a week.
Before diner I watch TV and I lay the table. I always have dinner at half past eight in the evening. After dinner I help my mother to clear the table.
I go to the bathroom and I brush my teeth again.
At night I get dressed, put on pyjamas, go to bed and sleep.

How would you feel if you woke up every morning around 6 or 7 a.m. for nearly 180 days a year? How would you feel if I said you had to do that for about 12 years or so? Would you say it sounded tiring and challenging? Or would you say you couldn’t do it? If you agreed with any of the questions I just asked, then congratulations, you're now a little closer to having a teen mindset. Typical teenagers have to wake up every school day around 6 a.m. for 12 years in middle and high school. Not only is this virtually not achievable for normal human beings, but it’s also extremely not healthy for their growing bodies. These school start times make students seriously sleep deprived and fall at risk of destructive mental and social behavior. Academic achievement and health also decreases because of these early start times. Also, because most students are going through puberty at this time in their life, their bodies tell them to…

high school institutions. High school adolescents generally wake up around 6:30 A.M., leave home around 7:10 A.M., and typically begin the school day slightly before 8:00 A.M. (National Sleep Foundation, NSF, 2006). Meanwhile, the average high school start time (between 7:51 A.M. and 7:56 A.M.) is not conducive to the sleep patterns and biological demands of the average high school student. Among 9th to 12th grade adolescents, 43% reported going to bed between 10:00 P.M. and 10:59 P.M. and 38% after 11:00 P.M. Astonishingly, 54% of 12th grade adolescents reported going to bed after 11:00 P.M. on school nights (NSF,…

I would usually relax and eat something when I got home, but I just couldn’t, I didn’t want to deal with what was going on, so I just slept it off. After I woke up around 6pm-7pm, I would go get some dinner, come back to my room, listen to music, and then play on my bass for a good 2 hours or so to relieve my stress, and eventually falling back asleep around 12. This would impact me severely because I would sometimes wake up around 8:00am and be late for school. I would then arrive to my first period Apex class where I would either work on my assignments or sleep because of stress. After that I would continue on with my journey and go to my Legacy class at 2nd period, continue with my work until 4th period, and then hopefully eat something at lunch, if not, oh well, there was always food for me when I got…
