Personal Narrative: How I Limit My Time
Ever since I was a sixth grader, the first three things that I wake up to see are my alarm clock, planner and pen. Regardless of it being a weekend or a weekday, I always start my day with a schedule. One of the biggest lessons I have is to limit my time on TV, social media and my cell phone. I have learned to plan breaks and I can stick to them.

After school, I usually have club meetings and come home late from school. I balance my school studying by going to taekwondo every afternoon.Weekends has become some of my busiest days of the week. I balance my schedule with academical homework, my group meetings, sports such as Taekwondo and piano lessons. I always try to make time to volunteer through Key club or Balvikas and spend time with my

I don’t know how to begin to define myself in order for you to understand who I truly am. I believe there is more to a person than stories that mould us into who we are today; like when one asks, “Tell me your story," I don’t think about that time when my family broke into two or that time I was diagnosed with my mental illnesses. I think of coffee, because coffee is bitter and bitter people drink coffee, sad people; people with heavy hearts and heavy footsteps, with tangled thoughts, people with anxiety and words left unspoken, people like me. Lonely people drink coffee. I think of the world map I have in my room with thumbtacks marking every country I want to visit. I think of foreign languages, and how beautiful it sounds when words form…

A major theme in my life is improvement. I challenge myself to take risks and set high expectations for myself. For instance, I strive to run faster and for longer distances every couple of times I approach the treadmill belt. I am obstinate about my minimum distance, 2.2 miles, and my minimum speed, 6.8. A major component of improving myself is learning. Every new word is a miniscule enhancement of my massive English vocabulary pool, but it is still a step in the right direction. I enjoy becoming more knowledgeable in both domestic and international affairs. I wish I could have more time to pour into reading current event and health articles. I am particularly attached to drumming the latest scientific discovery or innovate biotechnology product…

Learning from mistakes is a key part of life. I myself have had to learn from my mistakes. Over the summer I cut my foot outside. Traveling into the Indian Territory, we were being angrily chased down by three Indians furiously shouting at us. Dashing through the thick forest, the savage Indians were throwing spears and shooting arrows that narrowly missed us. Although neither Gideon nor I was mortally injured, I did suffer from a nick from an arrow piercing near my ear. Thankfully, a group of burly fur traders approached from the side, which frightened the Indians to run away. Acknowledging that Gideon and I were inexperienced travelers in the west, they offered us protection in exchange for some valuable possessions. As a consequence, knowing that they were our best alternative for survival, we gave them our antique gold pocket watches and assumed the identities of novice fur traders. From that point on, we followed them through the west and adopted their skills for efficiently hunting animals and keeping warm in the harsh, cold weather. During one of our rest points, we approached a large Cherokee settlement located in Park Hill in which our group leader was friends with the Cherokee leader John Ross.…

The results also state, that I tend to establish routines and procedures, prefer to maintain the status quo, and want a secure and predictable work environment I beg to differ, as a child growing up to present, I dare to be different, I never follow the crowd. I challenge the crowd. I like taking risks to some degree. I am not an extremist; however, I will venture out to the unknown. If I am not comfortable with the group or the conversation I will voice my opinion on why I will not be a part of the group and/or the conversation. To a certain degree I like to make a good impression, I believe it stems from the culture I grew up in; there is a high expectation for respect. Respect your elders, respect authority, if I am on a student in a class,…

I spend a great deal of my free time reading and writing. Literature has been a meaningful aspect of my life since I was young. The moment I learned how to read, I was devouring books. When I was introduced to creative writing in the sixth grade, another love sparked. I relish in the excitement I feel when I get invested in stories or a writing idea pops into my head. My writing comes out messy and chaotic at first, and I end up spending hours editing and improving it but I think there is a beauty in that. Writing with abandon is freeing. I want to preserve and expand the appreciation for literature, no matter if it is for entertainment purposes or inspirational, life-changing purposes. Being able to evoke something in somebody by using words…

Most teenagers do not have a clue about what they want to be when they grow up. Most young adults also do not know where their path is in life. Even some full-blown adults are still trying to figure out their purpose. I was lucky. I knew exactly where I belonged from about the time I was seven up until now, at the decently young age of nineteen. I do not see my path changing anytime soon; in fact, I know it will never change. But, I did not just wake up one day as a child and know what my path was, while that would be impressive. Defining moments in one’s life defines who they are. There were lots of things I experienced in my life that made me realize my purpose, my absolute passion. I had four of these defining moments in my short span of…
