Daredevil, Season One
I am reviewing: Daredevil, Season One
The genre is: action, comic book & superhero
I love Daredevil, Season One for the following reasons: The portrayal of the characters is realistic, they display very human emotions and reactions, and they all play essential roles that are relatable to various audiences. The romantic pairing that is the focus of season one has a strong bond and immense chemistry from their first interaction, until their last. In addition, the story line is engaging and offers the audience scenes that keep you on the edge of your seat, the show’s use of visual effects and cinematography greatly assists in this. Although the show has numerous strong points, there are some aspects that fall flat, like a supporting character’s

Besides their numerous heated moments, Matt also endows Claire with the privilege of being the first woman he’s entirely truthful with. Though he’s close to Karen, and she’s arguably another love interest, he keeps his vigilante activity a secret to her.
Evidence B. Even after Claire suffers tremendous trauma after involving herself with Matt’s vigilante activity, she still remains loyal to him and promises to always be there to care for him. Criteria #3 The storyline is engaging and reflects plight of Hell’s Kitchen as it struggles to rebuild.
Evidence A. The story line is packed with action, with major fight scenes that keep you on the edge of your seat
Evidence B. Daredevil really delves into rebuilding Hell’s Kitchen, involving an evil politician-like figure using the city’s faults as a platform for power, and the struggle a man has to protect the city he loves dearly from numerous threats.

Criteria #4 The show is visually stunning
Evidence A. The show uses lighting and camera angles to portray emotion in an unusual way. The fight scenes also stand out from the typical action films due to their use engaging cinematography.
Evidence B. Matt is blind, and sees the world in a profound way, there are a few instances where the audience gets to experience with

Every movie and TV show is different but they all share one thing in common, cinematography. Cinematography is how something is shot. Within cinematography are three categories; photographic aspects, framing, and duration. Photographic aspects are the concrete decisions that deal with specifics of the photographic elements; contrast, the difference between black and white and light and dark; exposure, the amount of light per unit area; and tonality, the amount of contrast there is. Framing is what defines the image which include angles, levels, and height. Duration is the period of time that a production lasts for. I could go in depth about all these terms but that is not what this paper is about.…

Jack is trying to tell her the truth, but she blindly stands in defense for Lucky, and does not realize the consequences of not trusting Jack. Behind the scenes, Jack has really been protecting Jane the entire time. When Jane meets Claire in the Chemistry lab, Claire mentions, “I would have done it [killed you] before, but Jack spent nights sleeping near your cottage,” in which Jane thought to herself, “Jack had watched out for me!” (p.312). This statement by Claire clearly contrasts the original thought Jane had about Jack, in which he is up to no by good creeping outside her cottage. The moment she hears Claire mentions these lines, her thoughts about Jack turns around 180 degrees, as Jane begins to realize the truth, that Jack had truly been looking out for her the entire time. After escaping the Chemistry lab, Jane is found unconscious, and not breathing. Jack finds her on the ground, and begins to do CPR on her (p.319). This shows how Jane is blind to Jack’s original intentions, as her love for Lucky dominates her, causing her to shield out other information. In the end, after all truth has been unveiled, Jane ends up dating Jack, a boy who genuinely cares and looks out for her. If it were not for Jack, Jane would not be alive at this point in the book. Her original preference for Lucky and her hatred for Jack clearly blind her from Jack’s true intentions,…

He did not know what to think and kept to himself. Though initially, Matt had thoughts of doing something to Richard, to what extent is unknown; We hear Willis say “How often have you thought about it?” (5), but ‘it’ was never explained explicitly, so we can safely assume by no means was that a reference to killing. Because let’s face it, killing is far from being in Matt’s nature. As we saw in the film, Matt was doing his best to take legal recourse against Richard.…

When creating a teaser trailer, it is important for us to get audience feedback. Firstly, we decided to use Survey Monkey which is an online survey tool. In this survey we asked people a set of 9 questions so we can get their thoughts on which sort of trailer appeals to them the most. This is so we can create a target audience for our teaser trailer in order to get the feedback from them. By looking at the audience feedback we took into consideration that their first choice was psychological horror and supernatural horror. In this way we developed on our ideas and started researching on black swan and the omen. Finally our main idea was Yangshen, which is a supernatural horror. We gave our trailer a unique element by making our protagonist a Buddhist. This is where the name Yangshen comes from which means ‘sacred one’. Then we thought about having a monk in our teaser trailer in order to show it to our audience that the protagonist really is a Buddhist. In order for us to develop more on this idea of ours, we filmed a several scenes with the Buddhist protagonist and the Buddhist monk. Then we asked everyone’s opinion on our cinematography, mise-en-scene, sound and mainly the storyline.…
