Themes In The House Of The Scorpion
Summary: The book is about a boy that is a clone name Matt. Matt was created by El Patron for body parts but Matt didn't know that because he thought he was different and special. When Matt was young he didn't know he was a clone until he got to the house of the Alcan when Mister Alcan told his children and the maid that he is a clone and Matt overheard them. Matt didn’t believe them though. They kick Matt out of the house over the night. Then they notice that he is El Patron clone and brought him back in and put him in a shed like place. That is when Matt realized that he is a clone and even though some people hates and doesn’t respect him he still have some people that stills loves him. Then Celia Matt's so call caregiver (Matt and I think that is him mom) and also the cook told El Paton. El Patron was mad and ordered them to get matt out. After Matt got out he had a good life. For example he got to become a great music player, he got kind of a girlfriend, also learned how to survive and escape dangerous things from …show more content…

For example many people judge Ton-Ton because he stutters a lot so most people think he is dumb and also doesn’t think he knows anything and most people doesn’t believe what he says. Setting: The first important setting of the book is the hospital. I think so because that is when
Matt see another clone and gets worried is he going to be like that and is that thing like him. Another reason why the hospital is important is because that’s when he found out that he wasn’t special and is used like every other clone for body parts.
Another important setting is the Aztlan. It is important because that is where Matt escape from Mr. Alcan because he didn't do the heart transplant. Another reason why that the Aztlan is an important setting is that where Matt meet the Keepers and his new friends. The keepers are just like the Alcan. Most of them hate Matt and doesn’t respect

“It is one of the commonest of mistakes to consider that the limit of our power of perception is also the limit of all there is to perceive.”(Leadbeater) Many people believe the way something is perceived, is always the way that it appears to be. In reality, there might be more to a person he is willing to show. If we assume that the way someone or something is seen is always as it appears to be, we would be lying to ourselves. A surplus of people are not exactly how they are seen to be. We should not judge someone too harshly as we may not have all of the facts or details of what is really happening to a person. Perceptions can override our abilities to correctly judge our peers and even ourselves, which can be very impactful.…

Religious freedom was something America struggled to completely achieve for many years. Historians have written articles that explain why it was so hard to achieve religious freedom in America in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. One of the historians was Maura Jane Farrelly, who wrote the article “American Slavery, American Freedom, American Catholicism”. In Farrelly article, she “ explores the relationship between American slavery and American Catholicism”(Farrelly, 69). Another historian would be Charles H. Lippy who wrote “Chastized by Scorpions: Christianity and Culture in Colonial South Carolina, 169-1740”. In Lippy’s article, he writes about “religious diversity and religious tolerance and how it extended to Trinitarian Christians”(Lippy, 270). Farrelly’s article was very clear and also used many primary and secondary sources, while Lippy’s article also used many sources it was not very clear and had me confused a couple of times. Which is why I would recommend Farrelly’s article instead of Lippy’s to students who are taking History-131.…

My judgement is that Matt should love Maria the reason I think Matt should love her is because she is the only one around his age that likes him And doesn't think he's bad because he's a clone. In the story, it says“Is she you're little girlfriend? Why shouldn't Maria be his girlfriend?” (109) This shows that Matt likes Maria and he wants her to be his girlfriend. He is also feeling a little jealous because he doesn't see anything wrong with Maria being his girlfriend. Another reason I think This is true is because on it states “One more thing, Matt said. I demand a birthday kiss.”(109) When Matt said that and asked for the kiss it…

Have you been treated badly because you are different from other people? The House of the Scorpion, written by Nancy Farmer, is about a boy, Matt, who gets treated differently because he is a clone. In my opinion, the theme is that don’t treat other people badly because they are different compared to you. Evidence from the book has Rosa treating Matt like an animal, the priest not allowing Matt in church because he’s a clone, and the gardeners building barriers and filling sawdust in his cell. Furthermore, there will be details explaining the evidence and it will be supporting the theme.…

Describe how a CIRT plan helps an organization mitigate risk. A CIRT plan helps an organization mitigate risk by helping the organization prepare for incidents. This allows for the company to respond to a problem quicker than they would without a plan. One of the most important benefits to the plan is the naming of a CIR team and what their responsibilities are. This allows for the organization to train the team for what skills are needed to help the company when the problem arises. Without a plan the team does not gain the benefit to analyze the response so they will not know how to correctly fix the problem.…

Most people in this world judge people negatively very often without knowing the person. People are judged on nearly everything about themselves. Some popular ways people are judged would be based on their age, gender, culture, religion, and appearance.…
