DARK CITY
Dark City!
The ice cold breeze gushed into my face one more time blowing my hair around as furious as a lion pounds, at the same time tears stumbled and tossed down my face leaving glossy lines that looked twisted when I walked under an orange glowing street light.
The dark midnight sky covered the misty air quicker than we expected leaving us lost in the middle of New York with only the sparkling full moon and orange street lights to lead us around hoping we can find somewhere where we recognise.
I and Rosie walked past all the closed shops pointing at our favourite ones, and commenting on the others, it’s a new world to us, not like at home!
I can smell fish and chips from the boxes thrown randomly on the floor, it makes my tummy rumble. Rosie is a pescitarian so she doesn’t eat fish, so this smells which is amazing to me and horrible to her.
I can hear Rosie mumbling about wanting to go home, and my name being repeated like it’s my fault we got lost! The distant trees blow and howl in the gale like wolves.

SUDDENLY a flock of birds rush out angrily from the trees making us shake and quiver.
Rosie jumped on my back in fright, making me trip and scream. We both laughed then huddled for warmness after.
We came across a phone box, and started scrambling in our handbags for loose change spilling the contents of our bags all over the dirty ground.
Eventually we managed to collect enough money to try call our parents who were at home in a warm cosy snuggly house!
“Is it ringing?” I whispered, to Rosie whilst she was ringing her parents
“Yes, I hope they answer!” Rosie said with a hopeful voice
Rosie started crying and whispered “the phone number isn’t working”
“I will try my parents if we can find enough money to pay for it.”
We ran off looking for loose change around the streets, but unfortunately we didn’t find any, only an extremely shiny pound (that look which it was new from a bank) which won’t be useful in New York.
We’re going to have sleep in

Caught up in our busy lives, Americans tend to take things for granted and fail to appreciate the little things in life. These little things have big meanings, and are much more important than we care to admit. For instance, we often pay little attention to small amounts of currency in the form of coins or more specifically, pennies.. We bustle around cities and schools and workplaces, fishing for cash to purchase a much-needed coffee or snack. Upon arriving to the cash register, we scramble into our wallets for a few pennies to reach the exact price value of our item. This has become a mindless habit, but some people have grown tired of the time wasted by penny-pinchers. However, these grumpy customers fail to recognize the depth…

According to MIT graduate Jeff Gore, mentioned in the article Penny Pinchers by Rick Khan, four hours are spent per year looking for pennies. “If each person's time is worth $15 per hour, then each person loses $60 per year at a cost of the nation of over $15 billion per year” Come on people! 15 billion a year! Devil in the White City written by Erik Larson is a true story based on the building of the most important fair in the United States of America, the 1893 Columbian Exposition World’s Fair in Chicago. Erik Larson also told the story of the psychopathic murderer; H.H. Holmes used his World’s Fair Hotel as an evil castle to lure in young women who came to see the fair. The story starts off with Larson describing that Chicago won the Congressional vote to host the World’s Fair and beat out its competition New York City. In only two short years, the White City was built. The fair brought in an estimated 40 million visitors in the only six months it was open. Daniel Burnham was the chief architect of the World’s Fair. Burnham had the staggering task of hiring the best of the best engineers, architects and designers in the country. No one thought the task of building the World’s Fair in the Black City of Chicago would be accomplished given the amount of time of two years they had to build it. The successful result of the White City, the World’s Fair, changed people’s perceptions of their own cities, architects, and designers.…

In the book Devil in the White City, Erik Larson introduces us to Dr. Henry Howard Holmes, who was born named Herman Webster Mudgett. At first glance, Holmes appears to be a typical fresh, crisp, well-dressed, blue eyed and dark haired young man. Holmes first appears on the morning of August 1886 in Chicago’s train station with a ticket to Englewood, a village located in the town of Lake. Because he presents himself as a wealthy, charming man, he does not fit the typical description of a serial killer, and we do not suspect what really goes on behind closed doors. By using his charming personality along with his manipulative and witty characteristic, Holmes is able to target weak people and exert his power over them to avoid detection of his successful killings, piled debt and fraudulent behavior.…

What would I do if I found one hundred dollars on the street would I keep it or return it to an adult or a nearby store, restraunt, etc.? I would return to an adult. Why? First, I would not keep it because thats not right because it's not my money and www.thesimpledollar.com states "A twelve year old saved up some money to buy a game console but first he had to go to the doctors office when he got back in his car he realized that all his money was gone." Secondly, I believe that taking money that you just found is steeling because in the first place it's not yours and even if you put it in your pocket you basically stole it even though you didn't spend it on anything. Lastly, I believe if you found a dollar you should return it t the…
