One Hundred Dollars On The Street Case Study
100$

What would I do if I found one hundred dollars on the street would I keep it or return it to an adult or a nearby store, restraunt, etc.? I would return to an adult. Why? First, I would not keep it because thats not right because it's not my money and www.thesimpledollar.com states "A twelve year old saved up some money to buy a game console but first he had to go to the doctors office when he got back in his car he realized that all his money was gone." Secondly, I believe that taking money that you just found is steeling because in the first place it's not yours and even if you put it in your pocket you basically stole it even though you didn't spend it on anything. Lastly, I believe if you found a dollar you should return it t the

In the article, “The Stuff That Costs More When You’re Poor” by, Kristin Wong, it mainly talks about how some common items in a poor person’s life can be expensive and posh. Because of a person’s low standing in terms of a economic perspective, establishments in fields such as basic house needs, car insurance, education, and banking have restrictions that may discourage the person from trying to purchase or invest in any of the businesses. Some of the argumentative tools that Wong successfully distributes are the usage of logos and pathos. For instance, when Wong is talking about the how the financially disadvantaged has to pay more for auto insurance, she attaches a PDF from the CFA that backs up and supports her claim. Thus, it makes her…

As I read the essay, “The Crime of Being Poor,” by Paul Wright, I realize that the author is a prisoner himself. Wright mentions that he has been in prison for over sixteen years. The author is adamant that wealth is the determining factor as to who goes to prison. Moreover, the rich have resources for a better defense opposed to the poor, who in most cases, must settle with a county issued attorney.…

The turn of the century in America toward the 1900s was a time of growth in population, industry and invention. Approximately five million Polish immigrants came to the United States, fleeing their country for various reasons. Some emigrants left to escape conscription, others left to seek better opportunities in America, and some fled from religious persecution (“Polish Immigration”). This immigration to America and all went with it is an immense part of Polish history, as is expressed in the short story, “The Son from America” by Issac Singer.…

Pennies are easily spent and worth one cent, so if I was you I wouldn’t let that precious penny walk out of my life. Pennies are very expensive to produce. We have spent over eighty million dollars over the production of pennies, while pennies are only worth one cent. Even though some people want to get rid of the penny, it would be better if we keep it because it is apart of or culture.…

I decided this summer, to use the free time for painting a comic. The protagonist of this comic, I determined, was a homeless person of color living in NYC. Notwithstanding I have been always especially active in my community, and have volunteered in several programs that benefit homeless people of color and LGBTQ, the research I made about homeless people in NY was an eye opener.…

Recently, a report was published by WHIO quoting your concerns surrounding the increased prevalence of panhandling in the city Dayton and the courses of action you believe to be necessary to rectify the situation. White-Collar Crime, or financial crime, is a widespread problem in America that usually does not get the type of attention it deserves. It is perceived as boring and people do not usually care to learn about it. Everyone knows about Blue-Collar crime (Street Crime) and murder, rape, and theft are usually met with feelings of anger and disgust. But unfortunately, White-Collar crime does not stir up the same feelings one would expect to receive from a murder. Fraudulent loans and embezzlement are just as noteworthy, if not worse than Street Crime. But financial crime is ignored most of the time in the media. Financial crime is more detrimental to society as a whole than street crime. It causes greater financial loss and affects a larger amount…

Most children possess a certain innocence that adults sometimes criticize, and yet wish they still had. Life can be perfect in the created world of a naïve child until one day a major event or revelation occurs and ushers in a bitter reality, a lesson in life. Oblivious and unwilling to accept the truth when it is spoken by an adult, children often have to experience life lessons first hand in order to learn from them, even when they are painful. Both “The Stolen Party,” and “Helen and Eighty-Sixth Street,” demonstrate how two young, innocent girls, who seem to have life figured out, learn just how distressing the real world can be.…

It is the morning rush hour, a homeless man stands at the curb of a busy street, hands stretched out, holding a dirty cardboard sign with washed out words written in marker reading, “No home and hungry, please help and God bless”. His clothes are ragged, his hair oily and unkempt. This is his spot. People drive by; most look away, some acknowledge him. Many people turn away thinking this man is a failure, a bum who needs a pack of cigarettes or an addict looking for his next fix. The sympathetic throw down a few quarters; they have done their good deed for the day. Many people see the homeless as outcasts. Though the question arises, isn’t there something wrong with a society that has so much poverty amidst so much…

I have been living in the City of Springfield since the mid 1980’s. It is not a secret that we have been experiencing an increase in youth related violence. The Springfield Police even has a gang task force. What we do not have is enough people willing to give young people a “second” chance. However, we do not give them a first chance to begin with. We do not support any positive youth development programs that allow participants the time and space to plan activities of interest, problem solve, and develop leadership skills. Anything that is youth driven makes adults uncomfortable and highly suspicious. We lack strong young leaders because we want nothing to do with giving them a chance to develop those skills in a safe encouraging environment.…
