There will be seven tables in this database source system order data, customer data, corrections table data, drop ship corrections, workflow status, end system data, and comparison results table. The source system table will be comprised of columns for customer purchase order number, customer name, transmitted date, and status. The customer table will consist of columns for customer name and customer number. Corrections table will provide columns for customer purchase order number, system reference data, date received and error message. Drop ship table…
Database environments are very important in today’s industries. In selecting an organization that will need a database, I choose Smith Consulting. Smith Consulting will need a database to track their consulting staff, each staff member’s skill sets, and what projects they will be working on. This document will provide information on the following area’s listed below:…
Entities for this database application will include a Customer, Products, Orders, Sales Rep and Shipping table. The attributes for the following tables are as follows:…
This memo is to inform you that your service request SR-ta-001 has reached my desk and currently is in the process of being completed. The purpose of this memo is to report the progress on the service requests. Currently I am in the stage of normalizing the database to the third normal form. By normalizing the database to the third level of normalization I will ensure that the data is efficiently organized within the database by removing duplicate and redundant data from the database relations. Normalizing the data to the normal third will help free up space and make it easier for the users to retrieve the data by elimination of the same data stored in more than one relation. In addition, normalizing to this level will also ensure data integrity, scalability, and storage efficiency. I have made sure that that there are no repeating columns or rows within the same tables and each column has only one value and one data type therefore the level of 1 normalization has been completed. I then continued to normalize the database to the second level of normalization by ensuring that each nonkey attribute is fully dependent on the key columns of the table. Once level one and two normal form had been completed I continued by establishing primary and foreign keys along with relationships. I will keep in contact with you as the project nears completion.…
In this paper the writer will seek to respond to the questions designated for both scenarios. This paper will list typical fields for each type of data. Provide an example of two relationships that you need to track. This paper will also answer the questions of: Do you need a database system? If not, can Excel® handle the data and the output? What are the advantages and disadvantages? Would you use a personal database or an enterprise database? Explain your answer. Would a decision support system (DSS) be helpful? Explain your answer.…
This exercise will introduce you to the basic building blocks of any database – fields, records, and files (also called tables). Although you will create a database with a single table containing a small amount of data about computer vendors, the more applicable use of databases involves the creation of many tables linked together with a common field or “key.” Regardless of the size of the database, the data is stored in the same way – in fields which are combined to create a record. And those records are stored in a file or table. The data is entered into the field via a data entry form, and the information is extracted (to answer a particular question or need) via reports and/or queries.…
Relational databases are not new technology. Commercially, they gained importance in the early 1980s with the introduction of Oracle’s relational database, and since then they have been an essential tool for most businesses. Databases are critical tools that help to support various business functions in an organization. These information systems help a business to build and maintain competitive advantage. Databases not only support the operational levels of business—they are also used to support the activities of managers.…
Database tools and technologies affected the business processes and decision making by a great extent. The most important benefit of the database is to change unstructured information into structured information, and allow users to analysis the data stored into different tables with the help of queries. Before database, all the information used to stored into paper and other unstructured computer programs, due to which getting required information process was very slow. Due to database, all the data is stored into the server and not only access of these became faster but also multiple users can access database at the same time. It removes redundancy from the tables, and ensure that the data all over the database is consistent, and also ensure the integrity of the data.…
The database design for the PC Store project needs to fulfill several requirements the management has to oversee the sales, operations and profits of the store. The requested data will include Sales Transactions List, Inventory Status List, Monthly Profit Reports, Monthly Report of PCs not selling and Inventory Status Query by Product. This will be accomplished using a series of tables that are relational and work with a unique primary key in each table that allows the data to be linked and expanded when needed.…
Sophisticated system based on a relational database The accounts manager has showed a need for a database that captures information about the customer and contracts and automatically alerts when certain level of stock is a needed to reorder.…
This paper will discuss the different databases in my organization with regards to what the databases are being used for and any improvements that can be made. To understand how a database helps the day-to-day functions of a business one must first know what a database does and how it works. A database is a “systematized collection of data that can be accessed immediately and manipulated by a data-processing system for a specific purpose” (English Dictionary). So a database is an application or tool used for storing and arranging information efficiently. Databases are very important tools in the workplace, if a company’s data is stored on a typically spreadsheet problems would arise fairly quickly. A spreadsheet is very hard to retrieve data except basic queries, and there is no multiple user access, and perhaps the most troublesome issue is that there is no integrity and data validation. In databases the structure is based on tables which have columns and rows that will store specific data. A row “in a table is referred to as a record. Records are where the individual pieces of information are stored” (Microsoft). Columns will identify the data in the table with the rows showing the records. The main types of databases are; relational and flat-file databases. “A flat file database is a database designed around a single table. The flat file design puts all database information in one table, or list, with fields to represent all parameters. A flat file may contain many fields, often, with duplicate data that are prone to data corruption” (databasedev). Flat file databases are good for small amounts of data that store simple data such as list and data values. Relational databases deals with more than one database at a time. It forms a relationship between tables that are manipulated to suite the user needs. The two main databases that I use at my job would be Microsoft Access and Microsoft SQL Server.…

Now the information system is entered in the all parts of the system to maintain and record the data. Thus, it give rise to database management. To maintain such records and information, there are various kinds of applications and software’s are available in the market. For example, the most popular used application MS Office. Now a days such softwares and applications are becomes the heart of any of the company. These softwares are used for retail, supply and chain, inventory and various other kind of management. It gives a competitive advantage to the company other the others.…
A database is a collection of information that is organized so that it can easily be accessed, managed, and updated. Databases in particular can form a key part of an information management plan which can support researchers and facilitate data management throughout the research lifecycle. Database technology can assist data at the collection stage by providing customized ways to input data, and the ability to do so from different locations such as five different accommodations in the research. Also the database design would need separate database tables to cater for five accommodation. The access to the data can be developed by better and more flexible ways of searching. The Database will create and show the relationship between the different tables.…
A database is an integrated collection of logically related data elements. A database consolidates records previously stored in separate files into a common pool of data elements that provides data for many applications. The data stored in a database are independent of the application programs using them and of the type of storage devices on…
