Dbq Boston Massacre
Purpose In 1768, the British sent troops to Boston to maintain order after the Townshend Acts. The patriots hated the redcoats, and constantly taunted them.
Event On March 5, 1770 an angry mob started hurling rocks, ice, and insults at Redcoats. The British were ordered not to fire by Captain Thomas Preston, but as the Patriots pressed forward, a redcoat was knocked down to the ground. They panicked, and opened fire on the crowd. Crispus Attucks was a black man standing at the front, and he died immediately after being shot. In the end, 5 bostonians were dead and 10 were injured.
