In 1959, Ford Motor Company wielded over $6.5 million dollars to create a new university on 200 acres of land. Just two miles outside of their world headquarters, these founders of Ford aided in bringing to life a college with decades to come of success, learning, and expansion in Dearborn, Michigan. The small university essentially began with a compact class of thirty-four students, and a selection of three degree programs: Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Business Administration (University of Michigan-Dearborn). Generally speaking, the school offers a plethora of internships and opportunities, small and personable classes, and a wide spectrum of educational programs that have been nationally ranked. About 70% of all classes have less than thirty students, which goes along with the student-teacher ratio of 17:1 (University of Michigan-Dearborn). By lessening the copious amounts of people in a given class, students can find themselves more able to form a relationship with the professor, ask questions, and focus more.
