There are parents who decide what their kids future is going to be. Some parents tend to tell their kids what they want them to be when they grow up . These parents put expectations for their kids way too early in life forcing them to become what their parents want them to be. This is unfair to sons/daughters because they might be stuck becoming something they don't like or simply aren’t good at. In Shakespeare’s Hamlet a son named Hamlet is trying to avenge his father's death who was killed by his own brother who marries his wife. The father of Hamlet is old Hamlet who comes back as a ghost demanding his son to kill his uncle but to leave his mother alone. In Miller’s The Death of a Salesman the father Willy wants his oldest son Biff to become…

Hamlet became mad over a course of period as it seems, but Hamlet is only acting. So the question will be does Hamlet want to die before he conquers his revenge on Claudius or will he want to continue on with life? Hamlet becomes very wishy washy with his emotions throughout the play. Sometimes Hamlet is happy and sometimes he is mad, as well as crazy. Claudius is on the hunt to get rid of Hamlet, but little does he know Hamlet could be considering getting rid of himself without the help of Claudius.…
However, in reality Polonius is an evil, greedy selfish man, who serves not his kingdom but himself. One example of this is how Polonius appears to be happy, concerned and supportive of his son, Laerte’s, journey to France. He seems to be supportive of his son until he sends Reynaldo as an emissary, in order to detect what sort of mischief he stumbles upon in France. In addition, Polonius, again, displays his devious characteristics when he spies on Hamlet and Ophelia in an attempt to analyze Hamlet’s madness. He soon orders Ophelia to stop seeing Hamlet, as he brainwashes her with lies about Hamlets motives, when in reality Hamlet is truly in love with Ophelia. Once again, Polonius proves his scheming behavior when he listens in on Hamlet and Gertrude’s conversation while in the bedchamber. Hamlet finally teaches him his lesson when he unexpectedly murders the “rat.” In reality Polonius is anything but a loving father watching out for his children, he uses everyone to his advantage and for his own purposes; this proves as evidence for his sneaky…

Father’s prepare their children for the outside world. They nurture them with the children's mother by their side. Freudian critics have located Hamlet’s motivation in the psychodynamic triad of the father-mother-son relationship. According to this view, Hamlet is disturbed and eventually deranged by his Oedipal jealousy of the uncle who has done what, Freud claimed, all sons long to do themselves. Other critics have taken the more conventional tack of identifying as Hamlet’s tragic flaw the lack of courage or moral resolution. In this view, Hamlet’s indecision is a sign of moral ambivalence that he overcomes too late.…
Readers view Hamlet to be child-like in the way that he carries himself because he acts like a teenage boy but, in reality, Hamlet is a 30-year-old man. Hamlet is almost a reflection of Queen Gertrude because she too faces the truth with a child-like innocence. The childness of both Queen Gertrude and Hamlet differ in the sense that Queen Gertrude ignores the harsh realities of both the world and her current role in the battle between Hamlet and King Claudius. Hamlet’s childness sends him on an irrational goose-chase of a revenge plot that he is purely driven by emotion, all behaviors a man of his stature and age should not be associated with. Throughout the play, Hamlet is easily provoked due to his constant childish…
The character of Polonius holds a position of power within Hamlet, and therefore is expected to hold a similar measure of responsibility. A corrupt and unfit…
In many of William Shakespeare’s works, it is evident that Shakespeare is alluding the lack of intelligence and weakness of women. “Frailty, thy name is woman” (1.2.146), quoted by Shakespeare in Hamlet is an example of this. In Hamlet, Shakespeare depicts characters like Ophelia and Gertrude as demonstrating weakness and being tools of manipulation by the males in their lives. Their actions and fates are greatly influenced by the men's decisions and are led by the men in their lives, which gives them a weak image. Women in the Elizabethan era were reliant on men to make their decisions as they were oppressed and disregarded in society. As Alex Gilbertson states, “this was not a glorious time…
1.The change of mood that occurs In scene one is mainly because of Polonius. This is shown in the beginning of the act when Polonius is hiring a spy to find out how his son is behaving. In the beginning of the scene it is quite funny and suspicious since Polonius acts like he trusts his son, but in actual fact he’s so concerned that he hired someone to look after him. The change of mood occurs when Ophelia runs into the room and explains to Polonius what had just happened with Hamlet ( II,i,ll 85-112). This changes Polonius’s mood and concern about his son towards his daughter Ophelia and how he was the reason for Hamlet’s insanity, Polonius shows that he is very concerned and feels that he is to blame for what is going on.…

In Hamlet, many think of Hamlet as being the main or only tragically flawed character within the play. However, in actuality, the play contains many other characters that possess varying severities of imperfection, some of which put the shortcomings of Hamlet, the title character of Hamlet, to shame. Despite the tragically flawed nature of Hamlet’s character, other characters in the play are clearly more flawed in comparison to Hamlet. As a result of this character’s imperfection, many of the characters within the play Hamlet are considered tragic; however, those in which this trait is predominant are Claudius, Laertes and Gertrude.…
