The idea that most people have for the United States as a country is for everyone to be equal. I honestly have no idea how this would ever happen. When it comes to being able to vote, or our freedom of speech, or the second amendment, yes I believe that everyone should be equal in having these rights. Things such as the laws and bill of rights should be equal to every citizen. However, I have to disagree that when it comes to our taxes, money, and our hard earned valuables that we should all be held on the same scale. People shouldn’t be handed free healthcare, free cell phones and free places to live if they are not putting forth an effort to make something for themselves. What exactly is it that makes a man more capable of doing a job then a woman? There are women in the world that are just as strong as men, while some are even stronger than some men. The only biological difference between men and women are our sexual organs, our hormones and some physiological aspects. Gender minorities are not caused by biological differences they are just a product of socialization, prejudice, discrimination and other forms of social control (Leon-Guerrero, A. 2013.) Women want and should have the same equal opportunity as men in the work force. For every dollar earned by a man in 2010 a woman made 77 cents (National Committee on Pay Equity. 2011.)
