Definition Essay: Perseverance
Perseverance
Perseverance is a characteristic every organism has that can make life more manageable. While some people express it more than others, perseverance is a great characteristical trait for a person to have, because it not only ensures their survival but leads to success. When we have that burning desire to achieve something, it is a great feeling of accomplishment when the goal we strive for is fulfilled. Unfortunately, during our journey, on the road to success, there will be many trials and tribulations standing in our way. Only through perseverance can we conquer those obstacles that stand in our way.
Perseverance, as defined by Merriam-Webster dictionary is: “continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition.”(1) No matter ones culture or where on the globe a person lives, perseverance is always the instinctual force that tells the subconscious to never quit. Perseverance through strength can be seen in our countries early foundation. It was perseverance that led to westward expansion, and ushered in an age of manifest density and shaped our country. My favorite quote of perseverance is from Disney 's Finding Nemo. Through perseverance the protagonist tries to get the his son home and only succeeds because he continually reaffirms himself to “just keep swimming, just keep swimming”. With no way to avoid a challenge, you must continue and learn from the experience to become successful.

Currently, as a C.N.A (Certified Nursing Assistant) I am able to help people with their activities of daily living, but my goal is to help others persevere through challenges while I work as a Physical Therapist . I have encountered many challenges as an adult returning to school, such as with my finances. Although it is great being financially secure, being a C.N.A. is not

I first thought I was going to change the world or at least make a difference through physical therapy. That was what I had my mind set on, even throughout high school. But then my world turned a complete 180. I had to move to Nowhere, Texas with my mom, dad, two older sisters, and their kids (my niece and nephew); Charlotte and Cillian. It was weird, hard, and the last thing I ever wanted. Although the move had nothing to do with my career goals, it was another thing that I questioned along with everything that was going on in my life at the time.…

One example in which took a lot of perseverance from my father is when he moved all the way from California to Kansas. My father had to change houses and have a new community to live in. It was hard, but he tried to stay strong with all the new challenges/ struggles coming his way. His everyday life had just completely changed. In addition to the first example, my father had to go to a new school. This was a very hard thing to change schools and took a lot of confidence. My father had witnessed many things at his new school. His everyday life had changed, but with his opened minded and social qualities he knew he could get through it. Eventually, his new school taught him that change isn't always so bad. Another thing to remember and example of perseverance is that my father had trouble making new friends. To make more friends, my father had joined a basketball team where he could get out and be active. Also, he tried being as talkative as possible. This happened in 3rd grade, my father was obviously young, so he thought he couldn't make any new friends. Furthermore, you can see that my father went through a tough time and had to make many changes in order to persevere in his…

Eventually their hard work will pay off, and the student will start to accomplish higher grades on his/her tests and…

My intended career is to attain a career in nursing where I can express my care and patience to those who need it most. As I was growing up, I really enjoyed helping out and taking care of people in any way possible. I was always right there when something would happen, because I was worried and interested at the same time. I also grew up around family friends who have become nurses, so watching them do their best at their job was quite the experience. This is when I decided that I wanted to become a nurse. I am currently participating in a Certified Nursing Assistant class at Fox Valley Technical College, and I have been accepted to a Medical Assistant Program starting in fall 2017. After I get this far, I hope to pursue my wish to become…

I feel that my greatest skill is perseverance. When I was 9, I left brick and mortar education to pursue one of my greatest passions: figure skating. It was my dream to go the 2018 Winter Olympic Games representing the United States of America. Many years later, fractures in both of my knees ended that dream. I thought that I'd be able to return, and would have a fantastic comeback story, but the knee pain never left. I was never able to return to the sport.…

Hard work and perseverance is something a number of people are taught at a young age. Suzanne Lucas, a woman who spent 10 years in corporate human resources, has this to say about working hard, “Some people pat themselves on the back when they do as little work as possible. While this provides temporary fun, it won’t help towards real success.” No matter what someone’s job is, if they put in their hardest work…
