Democracy Essay
The United States of America has definitely experienced some substantial changes since it’s glory days of revolution and power world wide. Through many different examples of “then and now” we can undeniably see alterations in the American political systems as a whole. This may be because of lack of participation within our nation, or financial industries downfall, or weak leaders, among many other possible reasons.With this, it raises the question of whether or not democracy is in a decline and what we can do to stop this. I personally believe that yes, democracy is in a decline. Both articles that I read for this paper very clearly illustrate a prominent decline in our democracy as we know it. Although the actions of our government and its financial issues do play an apparent role the fault does not fully fall on their shoulders. As a democracy, we the people hold immense power that is being continuously neglected, and with that the democracies decline fault is positioned in every U.S citizens hands as well as the government itself. However, although I do see the evidence of a falling democracy, I do not believe in the slightest that this will lead to an undertaking of America.I do not think that it is realistic to believe that any other country will take our title as an economic superpower. America has been the dominant country for too long to be replaced by any other power, especially those that we work closely with.
