Dental Assisting: A Case Study
Thesis: Why I decided to go to college
I have never been able to answer that one question everyone gets asked while in school, “What do you want to do when you grow up?” The answer came to me in an unexpected encounter with a Dental Service business owner named Paul, who is interested in selling his company. Knowing nothing about Dentistry, I decided to enroll in Dental Assisting. I chose a college because of the encounter with business owner with a business proposition, the knowledge to understand this field for owning a Dental Service business, and the credentials this degree will bring me in the future.
After the encounter with Paul, a business owner, my future goals have changed. One fateful day, my Aunt tells me she has met someone. They have been dating for a few weeks and she would like to introduce him to her family. After meeting Paul, I learned he was a business owner in the Dental Service Industry. He has gone through some medical problems and the business has suffered. Although he still suffers from Medical problems, Paul wants to revive his business. The business is about providing affordable Dental plans for patients who need Dental care. At the same time, providing Dentist office locations that accept his business. It works like an insurance company, but without the hassle of insurance. Just a Dental plan

If I want to work somewhere other than in retail, I need to gain the knowledge I lack. For me, college is the place to start. Also, it doesn’t hurt to have credentials that can be utilized in more than one way. The future is never certain. Knowledge has the power to change things and present us with more than one point of view. Changes happen all the time in our lives.
