Describe A Conejo Monologue
Clutching my knife I had made of stone about a month ago, I search for the only source of life I had found since going to this strange world. At least besides bugs. Movement in a bush in front of me catches my attention, and I peer in that direction, trying to make out the figure of this mysterious animal. I will have to get closer, for I now know that this creature is able to camouflage well with its surroundings. Taking a step forward, I make sure I am still wary of my surroundings, with one ear always open for any kind of danger nearby. I then find the shape of what I have named a conejo lobo, the Spanish word for wolf rabbit, for this is what it resembles. It can easily blend in with the reddish orange terrain of the strange land. The dirt …show more content…
The sky is a mix of different oranges and reds in the morning and afternoon, and in between this it is a bright yellow. At night it is typically a grey color, though sometimes a brown. Dark grey and black puffs that I would consider clouds float throughout the sky. Still watching the animal, I make out the head, focusing on separating the reddish brown fur from its similar surroundings, and then go for it. I shoot forward, and before it has time to flinch, I stab the neck. Not very fast for what it looks like. The size of a fawn, this will give me some meat for a couple weeks. Satisfied with my hunt, I return to my shelter. I enter the cave, set down my kill, and head back outside. Grabbing a stick, I use a resource that is odd to be on this land for no apparent reason that I have learned so far. Fire. It is randomly laid across the land, not necessarily burning anything, just there. The fire doesn't move position unless if by me. Since being here, I have found the fire to be very useful, it gives me light at night, some warmth if needed, and a way to cook, which is I'm grateful for it right now. I grab a stick, holding it over a group of flames, and it ignites. I stroll back to my cave very

Suddenly as if out of nothingness appeared a red eyed beast at the top of the wretched, steep hill we were attempting to scale. The wolf approached us with her steaming breath and her head low to the ground as if she was ready for the pounce. If we had run she would have reacted with great violence, so we kept our bodies and expressions as lifeless as a china doll. Her eyes were glowing like a fire replenishing itself; the eyes of a burning demon. Her coat was as grey as the fog that surrounded us, the beast froze corpse still, silent and motionless. It was a struggle to see. We could just see that the beast was among us. The brute still had made no move and the deep fog was thickening. It came to the point were we were blind in that we could not see any thing but the dull greyness of the…

We kept on walking for the whole day until sundown through the flat valley, stopping every once and a while to rest. Then we saw a lake with many fish and mastodons in the distance. We threw our nets into the water, while some people watched the mammoths. We walked towards the mastodons after catching some fish. The mastodons started screaming and I thought ‘Did they see us?’…

When he got a little closer, he saw a very large animal who was covering an abnormally large amount of ground in a short amount of time. He describes the animal as to cover about fifteen to twenty feet in just two strides, while not running. The creature made absolutely no noticeable noise. He mentions what he saw was the creature standing seven to seven and a half feet tall and an estimated five hundred pounds in weight. He describes the creature as being muscular and covered with dark fur, with long arms and hunched over posture. The deer hunter states that the creature moved quickly down the hillside and was gone in just a few seconds. Like both of the above incidents, it happened in a wooded area which provides plenty of coverage for the…

I could hear the blood pumping in my ears, away from the situation, and I started calming my breathing. I headed back to camp, content with trying to forget what I heard. The heavy footsteps of a creature larger than simple game. Almost as though just hiding from me, either to prepare to pounce, or to hide. What bothered me most however, was not that it was seemingly a creature who just wanted to hide, but that it hid. It sounded like a large creature, but a deer would have run, and a wolf would attack, followed by others. What was that? As I reached the campsite, the flames of my fire were softly dancing as though doing a waltz. I checked all of camp, but all the food and supplies I had gathered were gone. I headed back into the woods to the spot where I heard the rustle of leaves. The forest was still unsettlingly still, so I made the point to make my presence be known. I searched for any signs of where my belongings could have ended up. I stumbled upon a skinned deer. With that I knew I was not alone. I searched further, and found the hide on the ground near the river. I lifted it, wondering why any creature would skin a deer just to leave the hide behind not too far…

They lay loose so we used precaution when we descended into the valley below.…
