A Day at the Beach Maria 10-8-13
It was a warm, humid sunny day in West Palm Beach, Florida, a perfect day for the beach. We all got our blue, pink, green, and red bathing suits on and decided to head to the glorious beach. My mom, my little sister K., my nephew D., and I all sat in the car and started to drive to a beach. We weren’t sure which one though, but we were going to find the perfect place to spend our day. Every single one of us were anxious to cross that bridge that would lead us to where the beaches were. We finally found our perfect to spend the day at, I can’t remember the exact name of it, but the street it was off of was unique and really hard to pronounce. We all jumped out of the car once we had finally parked and quickly grabbed our towels, sunglasses, sunscreen, and all of our beach essentials. Once we were at the beach we were out of breath from running so fast. I finally was able to actually look at this fine beach we would be spending our day at, and it was beautiful. The sun was out at its most radiant, the water was sparkling like a diamond, and the air was full of warmth and a hot breeze; it was indeed a perfect spot. Everyone was anxiously waiting in the warm sand, seeping around our toes, waiting for the approval of my mom to go in to the water. She finally said we could go, we ran as fast as we could. We were careful though, trying to not step on any jelly fish, as this was jelly fish season and they laid all along the coast line. The sand became damper the closer we got to the beach, and finally we hit the water. It felt amazing because it wasn’t too cold yet it wasn’t hot, it was just right. Holding my nephew’s hand we began seeing many shells beneath, washing up and washing away as the waves came and

You see, I do not necessarily care for the blistering hot days southern Florida is known for. I enjoy the beach the most when it is cooler; especially when it has just rained. I sit back in my beach chair and look up to the sky. The clouds create a pleasant, refreshing blanket from the hot sun. I take a deep breath and, I can smell the rain that has just fallen. Now, the clouds are breaking and letting little slivers of sunlight shine threw. The new sun seems to change the color of everything. The sand is a bright white with speckles of glittering shells. The ocean is a deep shade of aqua with the sunlight glistening over it. This is…

The causeway we drove on was curved and tall enough for the sailboats below to pass under. As I looked down, I could see a group of beautiful condos on the shore. They contrasted brightly with the white sand around them, painted colors normally found in a box of crayons. I took in the sight of all the fancy high-rise condos and hotels, with a few beach huts sprinkled in between. We arrived at our hotel, and I quickly unloaded and unpacked my belongings. The beach was waiting for me.…

What’s better to chill out a hot summer’s day than something sweet and cool? No, I am not talking about a Popsicle. I am not talking about an ice cream cone, either. I am not even talking about iced tea or lemonade. It is something better than all of those, and it doesn’t even have all the sneaky calories of those other tasty treats! The answer to the question is simple. Have you guessed it? It is a cherry.…

We continued to drive for about thirty more minutes, and I soon realized that we were getting close to the beach. I could smell the salt in the cool breeze of air from my window. It was mixed with the sweet fragrance of food from the boardwalk. When we arrived at our destination, my father checked us into our rooms at the Silver Leaf Resort. I really wasn’t paying too much attention to my surroundings, because I was bursting with excitement wanting to go to the beach. I begged my mother and father till I turned blue saying “please can we go to the beach now.” “Pretty please with sure on top.” My father just looked at me with that solemn face he always has and said “yes, baby girl we can unpack later.” “Now let’s head to the beach.” I screamed like a banshee with excitement and ran to the room and changed into my swim wear. I grabbed my maroon beach towel with my pale and shovel, and my mini purse that contained my shades, bubbles, and sun screen.…

Has one ever pondered the possible interest in the typical bustle and commotion of a public venue or its perceivable feel left impressed upon the customers? To truly acquire a fascination of a place or gather a perception of the environment, observation and experience are vital. For a short period of approximately thirty minutes, I observed my former employer, 7-Eleven, in the town of Old Bethpage. I even experienced the point of view of the customer by purchasing a variety of beverages and hot food. Based upon my half an hour spent at the store, I recognized a diverse culture of customers, abnormal activity, and a warm, welcoming ambiance.…
