The Beach: A Relaxing Wonderland
It is spring break, in the middle of March, my junior year. As I cross the state line into Florida, I picture the ocean as being a place of peace and serenity. It’s my first time visiting the ocean, and all I can think about is hoping it is as beautiful as the pictures I have seen of it. As I arrive to the beach with all my friends, the eagerness of seeing this peaceful place is rising. I can’t wait to smell the fresh salty air, feel the soft sand between my toes, walk along the breezy shoreline.
As we approach the beach, the first thing I notice is the sky. As I look into the cloudless, cerulean blue sky and see the flawlessness of life; in the distance, rolling clear-blue waves crash into each other with such force as that of football players. The sky is breathtaking along with the sounds of the waves and the tide washing onto the shore. The water reminds me of crystals shimmering in the water with the sun reflecting off of it. As the sun sets, the sky turns into a pink hue with a bright orange sun going down into the horizon.
We stroll on the beach, and my feet sink into the soft sand. I stroll along, and the grainy, slick, brown sugar sand pulls my bare feet under and leaves a perfect imprint. I pick up a handful and sift it from my palm slowly, feeling the grittiness of sand with each finger. The view down the beach of the white, but slightly brown sand was enough to make my knees go weak. The sand is such a sensational feeling between my toes and a beautiful view against the crystal blue water.
The beach is a beautiful scene of peace and tranquility. Every moment is a different scene. As I sit in my chair I can see all the sights of summer; children building sand castles along the ocean's edge, to my right I observe an elderly couple enjoying a good book. The waves crash into one another, the breeze blowing from the tide, the smell of salty ocean, and the sticky air

You see, I do not necessarily care for the blistering hot days southern Florida is known for. I enjoy the beach the most when it is cooler; especially when it has just rained. I sit back in my beach chair and look up to the sky. The clouds create a pleasant, refreshing blanket from the hot sun. I take a deep breath and, I can smell the rain that has just fallen. Now, the clouds are breaking and letting little slivers of sunlight shine threw. The new sun seems to change the color of everything. The sand is a bright white with speckles of glittering shells. The ocean is a deep shade of aqua with the sunlight glistening over it. This is…

As Bethany Hamilton once said, "Being out there in the ocean, God's creation, is like a gift he has given us to enjoy." The smell of grilled hot dogs lingered in the hot, Summer air from the boardwalk, and I smiled because I knew that it was going to be a wonderful day. To begin, I ran towards the luscious, majestic waves as they kissed the shoreline. For example, the waves came crashing down onto the sand with such a powerful force. As I began to run closer to the ocean, my feet touched the jewel- blue water, making my body shiver. Next, I looked around the crowded beach at all of the kids playing, noticing how much fun they were having. For instance, I could hear the waves splashing and the children playing on this hot Summer day. The sand…

The sand scorched our feet like steaks on a fiery grill. I had brought the Rock along to join me for a surfing lesson. We snatched our wetsuits and our boards and hit the waves. The ocean water sends a chilling sensation through my body. The polar water feels like a steamy shower after a long day, calming and relaxing. The waves are monstrous and intimidating, however, I seem to ride them effortlessly like I had done it a million times before. I dash past the Rock and under a curling wave. In the waves there are vividly colored fish swimming in schools. The water is so translucent that one can easily see the ocean floor, and the coral and seaweed that lay on…

As I sprint across the hot sand that burns the soles of my feet, the smell of salt water and sunscreen hits my face. I can see teenagers nearby as they dive to save a falling volleyball, covering themselves in grains of sand. While I’m preoccupied, watching the intense game of volleyball, the cold waves of the Atlantic Ocean come crashing down on my legs. I can hear my best friend, Tara, dying of laughter as my body tries to adjust to the temperature of the sparking turquoise waters. Surrounding us is vibrantly colored tropical plants and trees.…

As you approach the seaside, you are captivated by its beauty. The breathtaking panoramic view is enough to make your knees go weak. The bright, round sun blinds you as it appears rising and climbing like a yellow lemon on the horizon. The radiant rays of the neon sun reflect off of the untouched white sand that covers the ground as far as the eye can perceive. These perfectly placed grains of sand shine like flawlessly polished diamonds. Emerging from the pale sand are enormous jagged, kaki colored palm tree trunks that stand as tall as skyscrapers. Oversized, razor-sharp, emerald leaves hang from the tops while swaying back and forth in the light ocean breeze. The ocean water sparkles and glitters playfully like twinkling stars flickering in the night sky. The sights alone are enough to soften your soul with tranquility.…

The most notable sight is the ocean, which is miles and miles of clear blue water. Attached to the water was smoothe white sand, filled with petite seashells. The sky is cloudless and blue. Bright rays are always shining from the flourescent sun, making it the perfect place to sun bathe. There is always a gentle breeze blowing the palm trees and Marram grass. Families stay on the beach all day swimming in the ocean or playing a variety of beach activities.…

My toes pressed firmly into the cool-March sand. The waves gently crashed onto the shoreline of the quiet, small town, which was still in hibernation from the cold winter season. St. Christopher’s beach was always breathtakingly beautiful at this time of year – the weather was not warm enough for the town’s more promiscuous side to come and twirl around in their sheer undergarments, but it was not too cold as to where the touch of the salty water felt like a thousand daggers were piercing your body. It was perfect. Perhaps the only perfect part I had left in my upside-down life.…

The beach’s ambience was relaxing yet hectic. Parents were lying on their large beach towels, soaking in the sun such as a sponge would absorb water. All the while, their young children were splashing and running through the froth of the waves. Screams were constant as the stomping of sand castles aroused temper tantrums from the hard working…

As soon as we got to our hotel room, I rushed to put on my swimsuit to go to the beach before the sun fully set. The hotel room looked like I had been there for a month, with clothes scattered over the marbled tiles in our hotel bathroom. The soft sand between my toes felt like fuzzy socks as I ran to meet the ocean’s tide. The foaming water washed away the sand as well as the stress I had accumulated at the airport. My worries about not having my parents with me and being in a new place fled as I watched the sun set behind the tall…

The bright sun emerges up over the water, like a giant lollipop coming out over the horizon. The sky fills with its fierce pink and orange glow. A strong gust of wind blows past me, warms my face and the fresh scent of the salty ocean water makes its way through my nostrils as I take a deep breath taking it all in. Swaying in the wind, was a yellow flag; letting me know that the water was moderate but safe to enter. Once I could see the sand I removed my shoes and socks and prepared to feel the warmth of the sand between my toes. Warm, grainy sand hid between my toes and cling to my feet as I made my way to the water. Using the sound of the waves as company, I meandered along the shore. I was thinking of a way to embrace my assignment; I had to spend time alone. It was time for me to appreciate doing nothing.…
