My client requests that advertisement have to include a parody of a famous song.
When I use music for my advertisement, I need to permit from the singer/song writer by Australia copyright law (Copyright Act 1968).
First I try to find copyright owner to join APRA ( Australian Prudential Regulation Authority, http://www.apra.gov.au/). But copyright owner reveals that it is owned by an obscure person who bought it from the singer/song writer before he was famous.
I try to research to reveal copyright owner but I can't.
At this time, what I should do to solve this problem. Even more I need not only song but also parody of a song. In this case, I have to consider any copyright law or forbidden for my clients.
